Montana AA High School football playoffs

Hats off to the Dogs! Could easily have folded against a very good CMR team. Kudos to Johnson for going for the win on the road

Yep! JJ was playing to win and I respect that. The Thompson kid #44 is a load and the QB Horner is a stud as well. CMR is a very good team and probably should have won the game. One thing about Butte High School is there is no quit in those kids. They could have called it day down 2 scores halfway though the 3rd but they just kept fighting and eventually got the job done. Going to be an amazing friday eve in Naranche!!

Yep, will be an amazing atmosphere at the school! Here is to taking down the first Bozeman team on Friday :thumb:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Butte O-coordinator or at least one of the offensive assistant coaches is Mike Schmidt, a previous class of 2000 all-stater for CMR. One of JJ's stars...

Yes, you are right about Schmidt coaching for Butte High. Not exactly sure which positions, but I thought it was on the defensive side.

Mike Schmidt is the O Coordinator. He was the OLine coach his first year, then when Travis Blome left to Hamilton, MS was promoted to O Coordinator, he has done a great job!

:wtf: - looked like he was in.

...that'z because...
...he waz in...

... 8-) ...

He was in. Joke of a call. It really does demonstrate the dire situation that Montana high school football is in with the limited number of officials. That being said, if CMR does not turn the ball over 3 times inside the 20 then this is a laugher of a game. CMR put themselve in a position to let the ref decide it for them. That being said, I LOVE the call of going for two. Johnson played to win. He put it in his best players hands to win the game and he did. The blown call not withstanding. That is why Johnson is the best coach in the history of the state of Montana football.

Can go both ways. If Butte had not fumbled deep in their own territory to give CMR a very short field for a touchdown or did not blow a block and give up a safety Butte wins by 7 or 9.....part of the game. I agree about Johnson going for 2...play to win on the road. Took guts to do that.

It worked in CMR's favor earlier in the year when Capital went for it and did not get in. It was the right call for Capital then too. I love a coach that goes for the win. That being said, even Johnson is getting some grief from some of the armchair quarterback idiots in Great Falls. Going for 2 and the win is the right call all the time for me. I will never question a coach who actually shows some balls instead of playing it safe.

I thought going for 2 was a great call, took some balls, which we all know JJ has! Good coach, can't dispute that. I can dispute your comment about a blown call and that he was in. I watched the game film and I do have to say it was close, but you can not say that he was in. Field conditions were ugly, can't see the goalline in the film. All officials put themselves in position to see the play and make a call. Not one signaled that the attempt was good. You have to put trust in the officials (who are from a non playing town) to make the right call from 3 yards away.

After posting above I realized that I picked all home teams to win. If I had to guess on an upset, I would go with Skyview over Butte. If its snowy and Skyview can run the ball they might be able to get out of Butte with the W...

How does the saying go? "Stay with your first choice!"

You changed your mind to go with a 7 seed on the road over the 2 seed at home (former #1 team in the state)?!?! The home team with the loudest crowd in the state? Wow. :bad:
