Monson out at Minnesotta

Don't think that the Griz win over them was not a major factor. People in Minnisota are PISSED that Cameron Rundles was a major part of that loss. One newspaper article said he was the best basketball player from Minn. on the court during the game! While maybe that was a stretch I think the point was that Rundles additude, hustle and cold bloodedness was what U of Min. needed.
Boy people really don't like to see the home town kid go elsewhere and star....... McGillis anyone.

Star  Is it the 3.7 PPG or the 2.1 rebounds that have everyone in Bozo up in arms? Face it the UW coach faked out another PAC 10 team into waisting a Scholly by saying this kid could be walking on to UW.

Jack McGillis is having an average year at best...The jury is till out on whether or not he would have been worth the scholarship. He had a good game against the Cats...certainly not a great game, and did nothing spectacular as a Freshman last year. If he turns out to be a legit player for OSU I say opportunity missed. However, his college career as of yet has done nothing to make me say "SHAME ON YOU" Coach Krystoviak or Dennehy.

I have looked at Jack's stats...Kid has potential, but as of yet that is all it is...potential

Given a choice between, 6-5 Soph Swift or 6-6 Soph McGillis..... I will take Mcgillis hands down no question asked.

IF Swift was from Missoula and McGillis from Cali, I bet your opinion would be reversed. Maybe Im wrong....

Not really Griz hoops, but our victory over the Gophers couldn't have helped.

And people wonder why coaches take the big money offers when they get a chance. This guy was considered one of the best young coaches in the country when he left Gonzaga. He goes to Minnesota knowing he would have to overcome NCAA imposed recruiting restrictions until 2007. Monson does a respectable job, yet the pressure is such that he resigns.

Now maybe people understand a Dennehey move to Utah State and Glenn going to Wyoming. :twocents:

Playing better than Austin Swift (another player the jury is still out on) is not the determining factor of whether or not you should be playing for the Griz.

It is just way to early to say whether or not the Grizzlies made a mistake here.

McGillis went on to play D1 ball, good for him. I hope he does well.

Back on topic, I was watching/listening to ESPN Sports Center last night and they mentioned Minn. firing Monson. "The anouncer said something to the effect Minn. had lost its first 6 games including a loss to D-2 Montana" The Big Sky gets no respect.

Off topic again: The jury is not still out on Swift if you have seen him play, you know he is a fine Big Sky Sophmore, any number of teams out west would love to have. I have a feeling the jury never comes in until the players last 1/2 of his senior year you have 13 player (the Griz have something like 15) and only 5 starting spots, someone has to come off the bench and this is a perfect role for a Sophmore, with loads of talent in front of him.
