Money games

Heard on the radio that multiple sources claim some low major and mid major schools will not play mpney games out of fear that major teams will get first hand look at talent that they could possibly get in portal the next year.
Reason I find this sooooo stupid is
1. this is not the 1950's coaches have access to video of all players
2. players have to decide to enter portal ( coaches can't interfere )
3. why punish your Athletic dept budget because you could lose a kid.
Some serious paranoid BS if you ask me

It may be paranoid, but it might be well founded. Here's a quote from the "Tampering" article I posted on the "New Rules" thread:
North Carolina coach Mack Brown said he's "absolutely" concerned about other repercussions.

"You play a team now and you don't go shake the coach's hand on the other side," Brown said. "You go shake the great tight end's hand. 'Hey, you look great, man. Aw, man, we should have recruited you. Wish you were here.'"

Brown paused.

"Well," he said, "now he can be."
And yes, there's tons of video, but seeing a player in live action probably gives a better basis for judgement. A friendly handshake may not look like tampering ("plausible deniability"). However, it could encourage the player to test the portal if he thinks he should be getting more PT or thinks he has a chance to play at a Power-5 program.

Still, it sure does seem like "cutting off your nose [$$$] to spite your face."
