I have been reading different article here and there about the unknowns of the hopeful college football season.
A couple articles mention that some conference members may or may not play games this year depending on how COVID19 is affecting there state / community etc.
That got me thinking that maybe the normal conference affiliations we know for this year should or could be put aside in an effort to play more regionally to hopefully lesson the chance of spreading the virus possibly more.
Take for instance, maybe look at states of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. Games played between UM, MSU, UI, ISU, BSU, WYO. Play a home and away for 12 game season. Maybe even play a “region championship” between the two most winning teams?
States like California have enough teams to play in state only!
Step further, take the state’s of Oregon and Washington. Games between UO, OSU, PSU, UW, WSU and EWU. Again home and away games.
Utah and Nevada: UNR, UNLV, BYU, UU, WSU, SUU.
These in reality could be bus leagues if needed. I think the same could be done for the entire US.
This would at least provide a season of some sort.
Unless things really turn around I don’t see a bowl season or any level of playoffs. So why not do something like this. Really why send people in some cases half way across the country to play “conference “ games.
In all reality this would be a perfect time to make wide spread changes and make things more regional anyhow.
What say you Griz nation?
