That's a pretty lucky break for every single other playoff team. Head to head, some of those MVFC teams left out would beat most of the playoff field more times than not.

Yep. The committee sent a message today saying that it is more important to have 8 wins than have a good SOS/GPI. However, once the NCAA version of the SRS is published, that may shed some light on the matter. That would explain why number of wins were valued over how competitive your schedule was.

Committee chair, Bourne, just said that the committee did consider how teams had played more recently and their momentum, contrary to what is in the written stuff on selection.
