missoulian story

I've said it before, I think next year will be special. Last year with Selvig and Qvale together. Matchup nightmares. I know Weber and a couple others will be tough, but next year's team needs to do the little things; not lose @ Denver, let one slip against ISU, get swept by MSU . . . Those kind of games in December - February will determine if you have a chance of getting a winnable game in March. I know that's putting the carriage before the horse, big time, but it would really be cool to see the Griz in the 2nd or 3rd round of the NCAA's. Winning a couple games in the NIT would be cool too. If not next year, then when?

Screw the NIT. Getting there is not where this program is headed. I hope the damn NCAA doesn't expand the tourney past 64 teams. Why water it down?

Answer: More $$$$$ for the big wigs at the NCAA and for the elite coaches. Unfortunately the NCAA does not give a damn about the students or the programs like are in the Big Sky conference they will what is best the executives and the big name coaches/programs. This is a money grab and they will do it.

Well obviously the NIT is a consolation prize. But getting there would mean winning the Big Sky regular season which hasn't happened in a long time. I think it's exciting any time the Griz step on the court/field with a more talented/recognized program.

I am optimistic about the future, but I don't think fans of a program that has made the NCAA tournament 4 times in the last 10 years and has won the conference regular season zero times in the last 10 years has the basketball clout to say "screw the NIT". North Carolina fans in the NIT this year were some of the loudest and most involved and intense I've seen in a college basketball game. It's just another opportunity to compete. :twocents:
