UM tabs Hauck

Bob Hauck will be introduced as the University of Montana's new football coach on Friday afternoon, the Missoulian has learned.

Sources close to the Hauck family and within the UM athletic department confirmed the hiring Thursday morning.

Hauck and his wife Stacey are expected in Missoula Thursday night. The university has scheduled a noon press conference on Friday to make the official announcement.

Hauck will take over for Joe Glenn, who left for Wyoming last week after compiling a 39-6 record.

The 38-year-old Hauck has been the last four seasons at the University of Washington as the Huskies' special teams coach. He assumed control of the defensive backs last season.

Hauck began his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant with Montana in 1988 and 1989. He worked as a graduate assistant at UCLA, before joining Rick Neuheisel's staff at the University of Colorado.

Hauck is the brother of former Grizzly All-American Tim Hauck, who currently plays with the San Francisco 49ers. His father Bob Sr. coached high school in Three Forks and is the former Missoula Loyola athletic director. Hauck's uncle Tom is UM's defensive tackles coach.

Hauck and his wife Stacey have twin daughters, Sydney and Alexandria and a son Robby.
