Missoulian article

Today's Missoulian has an article on Krysko, saying he is the lone D-I head coaching candidate at Pepperdine. http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2006/04/08/sports/sports02.txt

Where do these pricks get their "source"? How are we supposed to believe what they are saying when all is mentioned is "a source told the Missoulian"? I would hope someone told them or they'd be making it up themselves.

Granted it probably is true; they get it right more often then not, but why protect this source? Its stupid. I refuse to believe anything this article says for that fact alone. :lame:

Have you even been paying attention? 2 of the other candidates are Pac-10 asistants & the other is from a JC in Fresno? Doesn't take a genius to figure out that LK is the only DI head coach amongst the group. If you don't like hearing about sources you better not ever watch the news, listen to the radio or read the newspaper.

Okay, let me clarify. I really appreciate the kindness of this message board btw....

Who is this "source" who's saying Krysko is flying out next week? Pepperdine's AD isn't releasing the names publicly, O'Day said he was "pretty sure" Krysko was a finalist because the Pepperdine AD called him directly. And Krysko isn't commenting....

Whats the point of protecting this source?

Sources are part of the journalism business. W/O them we would never have any info until stuff actually became official. Imagine you work for the athletic department & tell a reporter a bit of information but say please don't use my name. If that reporter turns around & quotes you are, you will never give out info again & I doubt anyone else in the athletic dept. would either.

Well, then, my next question would be, why does this person in the athletic dept. want their name withheld? Thats one thing that always bothered me whenever I needed to get info from the UM athletic dept, they treat information, even the most frivilous information such as new assistant football coaches, as if it were classified top secret government info.

Its not like they have to be that way, look at MSU; they released the names of the candidates and held public interviews for each. I see your point about needing that person for a source, but I still hate seeing "an anonomous source told so and so......." It takes away the credibility of the information.
