Miss Old Bobby Ball

How many yards did Harris gain against EWU? How many total carries? How many times did he run the ball in the 4th quarter?

I'm not good at a pop quiz, but he carried 18 for 124 and 1 TD. I was pretty drunk in the 4th, so it's a blur.

Twice in the 4th. On the blocked FG series (3rd quarter) .....once....on 2nd down for 5 yards.....the other two plays that series were an incomplete pass (1st down) and pass for no gain (3rd down) ......but Griz always run for no yards on 1st down (?)

reinell30 is old school. He knew that the invention of the forward pass would be the downfall of football, in particular "Bobby Ball". #MBBGA #MakeBobbyBallGreatAgain

Excellent info here, Colter...and made all the more impressive by the fact that you whipped it out from memory!

Colter
Thank you for the facts. This is why I always ask questions because I know someone knows what happened! My 40 carries number was just off the top of my head, 38 is close.
Look how many of the largest run totals were from Bobby's 1st stint here?
I love seeing stats like this! Thank you again Colter! Hell this is better than Google!

Great Job!

I just remember our record of success when Bobby was here before because we were a dominant run team. I also see the success of NDSU and their run game. Old School, maybe so? I just really like the size of our O-Line now and wish we could get our RB's healthy so we could see just how good they are...Damn Injuries!

Know what would be cool. An entire half of doing just the wishbone - during the first half. Then the opposing coaches would re-do all their game planning during half, then switch at half to regular offense. I wish the Minnesota Vikings would run the ball every down first half against Packers. Stir some $hit up!

I never said we always run for no yards on first down. I just said the run game is hurting due to being down to freshman. Although they still are doing a good job. Man I wish we had Marcus Knight back. That would be a run game.

I could be wrong (and I admittedly haven’t looked at any old stats to compare then vs now), but my recollection is that our offense was always pretty balanced when Bobby was here the first time. We definitely ran the ball and controlled the line, but we weren’t NDSU - we threw it plenty, too.

Indeed we did throw plenty. However, when we hit the fourth quarter with a lead it was run run run....we very seldom lost after entering the 4th with the lead. Teams would only get one or two chances to score against us in the 4th because of controlling the clock with power running.

I’m old enough to remember that Bobby Ball was a pejorative, especially following a victory that wasn’t exciting enough.

Miss Read also, was our neighbor for a short bit. Very entertaining guy.

Bobby ball or not, our griz gonna get very challenged this month. Oi don’t think we’ll make it to November without another L.
