Minn. High School Guard on campus today.

I checked the papers. And from what it sounds like... he plays in a league that is similar to our class B. Wow!!! I'd hope a 6'4" kid who can shoot would be productive at such a high level as that!

So smart guy, whos the last class B player in Montana to come close to those stats?

The cats are also recruiting him. :thumb: I'm not the aforementioned smart guy, but I'll bet Kevin Criswell is the class B player Payton refers to. He did alright! :clap:

Erik Rush sound like a fine pickup for the Cats. With almost all recruits there is a huge eliment of unknown. Just need to wait and see.

My guess is Mike Chavez, before transferring to Browning for his senior year.

My guess is Mike Chavez, before transferring to Browning for his senior year.

Chavez was Class C (Heart Butte) before transferring to Browning. Kirk Walker is my guess as well. Samuelson was a good class b player at Broadus though.

I don't know if you could fairly compare the quality of basketball at a small school 30 miles outside of Minneapolis to a small Montana school 30 miles from the middle of nowhere. Perhaps by class size, but when a school is that close to a major metropolitan area it tends to get a much different student body, then what you might get in say Columbus.
Not to mention that if your kid is serious about basketball, there are more leagues and camps and clinics to play in just 30 miles down the road than the entire sum of Montana's non-high school programs. If you want your child to play against the best Minneapolis has to offer, you can drive him to town and get him involved in one of the many youth leagues with talent heads above Montana's AA high school division.

Tyler Palmer of Fairfield averaged close to 30 ppg. He had walk-on offers from the Griz and Cats, but decided to play for Western.

Well said WA Griz....thats why it is necessary for us to recruit outside of Montana. We have a few good high school players to recruit each year, but you can count them on one hand.

He is currently playing on what could be considered a TOP AAU team in the Minnapolis area.

For those of you that think he is "thin", Hes still 17 and dosent turn 18 till late July.

Watertown-Mayer shooting guard Matt Janning, 6-foot-4 165 pounds, had an incredible senior season. He scored a total of 954 points for 31.8 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field. He has visited Montana, is considering Montana State and a new team has come on late and he will visit the school in the next week.
