I just want to talk football and have a good discussion therein.

Well, talk football. What's stopping you?

Check out the calendar. August is fall camp discussion. Sept-Nov actual football. December playoffs, and hopefully a Griz NC. January  February signees. March - July
When it's sleepy time, turn off the damn phone. Take responsibility for your own time in eGriz. Don't wait for someone else(Chris/mods)to make your life easier.

EGriz has unfortunately become a complete and utter sh*t-show. As I mentioned in a different thread, I've been on here for nearly 20 years and frankly, I'm embarrassed to even admit I come here anymore. Not one thread goes by without someone calling someone a name, starting a pissing match, or generally being a complete a**hole. Chris, the mods, or whomever runs this circus should be ashamed. Either start kicking people off, locking threads immediately upon the start of the sophomoric behavior, or find someone who will. I just want to talk football and have a good discussion therein. Disagree with someone's opinion all you want, but is it really too much to ask to do it in an adult manner? My worry is that if they start kicking people off for childish behavior, there will be about 8 people left in here. Grow the f*ck up or go spew your sh*t somewhere else. I'm f*cking tired of it.

This "rant" about nothing related to football at UM or in the FCS should solve the problem!

1) this board, and the um bookstore board before it, have always been like this, the characters have just changed some.

2) i don't recall much of any good football related content from the posters complaining the most.

3) once there is actually a game, football discussion will ramp up significantly. anyone who has really participated on egriz for twenty years should know this by now.

4) without the "non-football" posts that are being complained about, traffic at egriz would be extremely low during most of the year, ad revenue would drop, and the site could close.

5) again, let's see what happens after an actual football game, and remember the griz haven't played anything but a couple glorified scrimmages since 2019. i predict assessments, disagreements, jokes, predictions, championing of some players, and the usual football stuff after a game or two.

6) football popularity has waned, and the posters on egriz are generally a lot older than they used to be, because younger generations don't necessarily love and follow football like previous generations did. at least there is still a site to post stuff.

7) i think one of these guys complaining may have been the lucky 5,000th poster to write a swan song "i'm leaving" post, with 4,998 of them returning anyway. still, shouldn't a certificate or something be given to the 5,000th poster who aired his broken heart, and complained about non-football posts while making a non-football post? that takes a special kind of person.

8) the number eight is considered lucky in some asian cultures, because the word for "eight" sounds like the word for "fortune". so i made 8 points in my posts, in order to help the fortunes of egriz. you are welcome.

We need mods or more mods who can keep this shit halfway normal or functional here. I agree it’s really been a shit show lately. I highly recommend joining the egriz club side of the board.

Indeed….it would be most refreshing to have our football board back. Agree that it appears to be hyjacked with poster tirades, tantrum’s and taunts.

On the bright side, there do remain many informed posts that do create healthy debate.

You've been around for a while, and your experience on eGriz is telling. A lot of pissin' and moanin' here about content and posters. Individual responsibility can be a bitch, but being adult has its drawbacks. I like your input, argh!, unless it's politics(then you're FOS). You were straining to get eight points, and really had to pull some WAY up your ass to get them. I disagree with you about AG1, but I was on only five years during his tenure. :thumb:

The only thing the "recurring" poster has going for him is the inability of a handful of long time egriz posters to control the impulse to respond to cheap bait. Fortunately for me I recently found the Shick-Shadel Pavlovian response treatment wing which, so far, has cured me of that behavioral response. My sponsor warned me against this foray into the subject so I am on dillicide watch for the next 72 hours. We will see if it only takes one post....relapse is a bitch.

Godspeed, 8184. My friend Bucky has been a resident of that wing for as long as I can recall. He’s been zapped with more electrical charges than all the lights on Las Vegas Blvd. He starts shaking if he so much as reaches for the “Return” button.

Now I understand why nobody wants to hold Bucky's hand in the Serenity prayer circle.

egriz is pretty much an open, free, and easily accessible canvas, and you have been given all the different crayons and paints to draw what you want, which you say is 'football'. but you rarely draw, you never paint, and the canvas lacks what you desire. so get out your crayons and draw, if you want to talk football. duh.

Reminds me of sitting at lakeside one summer, watching this middle aged, obese couple and their dog 'Bucky' getting into a canoe at the dock. Woman gets her right foot into the canoe which then starts migrating away from the dock. Probably the first time she'd done the splits in 50 years, and undoubtedly the last time. You guessed it....Ker-f*cking-sploosh! Canoe is heading out to the lake, guy is having a conniption, and 'Bucky' is barking his ass off. She's flailing the 4 foot deep water, then stands up and walks to shore. I have NEVER laughed that hard in my life and not needed a change of drawers.

Stop the pissing matches and stick to football posts. I’m not gonna do it. I have a pissing match at 6pm, and another at 8pm. If I don’t get back to see the entire front page filled with football content provided for me by others, I’m going to start a pissing championship match for all the marbles.

I appreciate the thread started by Copper Griz. He is now the 8-9th poster to plead for an end to the 8th grade pissing contests. I also requested that The Squad, and their minions, bear-assed and grizzaliens, grow a pair and talk football, instead of being obsessed with me. Unfortunately, they are incapable of accomplishing this request, for two reasons:.. #1 they are obsessed with me, and, #2... they know nothing about athletics, so they have nothing to offer.

However, in the spirit of returning this site to discussions about Grizzly athletics, I agree, on this date, August 23, 2021, to refrain from participating in the childish bullsh*t pissing contests by The Squad. There is zero chance, however, that they will do the same.

My god, that is the height of self control. :thumb: Don't worry about the 'others,' after all, you can only control what YOU do. Sage advice.
I use long pins and a voodoo doll, ala 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.' Seems to have the desired effect.

i once used a voodoo doll to get rid of a department chair i couldn't stand. poked him full of pins and prayed to jah on a daily basis that he'd get fired. damned if it didn't work. completely forgot about it after that, which, in retrospect, was dumb. except i forgot the shop in new orleans where i bought the doll. i imagine not all voodoo dolls are created equal.

ah yes, those were wise words, zirge. a little on the forgiving side, perhaps, but wise.

Try any of the upwards of 5 or 6 boards, all claiming to be the official fan board, of major 5 conf team. Try Alabama for instance. Where they are still whining about getting jobbed by the refs and Clemson stealing signs in the 2018 title game. Check the rivals threads. Its chippy all over. Just don't read what you wish you hadn't read.

This is only partly true. Most fan boards that are free tend to be unmoderated cesspools where there is constant bickering and threads turn into shit shows relatively quickly. That said, fan boards that require a paid membership are a whole different story. They are heavily moderated and stay on topic and civil about 95% of the time, at least I'm my experience. Aditionally, they almost always come with some sort of insider element that breaks news regarding the team and recruiting, as well as providing quite a bit of written content daily in addition to the forum aspect of the sites. Its obviously a little different for the bigger schools as their recruiting is more nationally recognized in terms of the athletes they recruit, and the fanatic fan base that is willing to pay for such a thing is much larger. If something more along those lines existed with an insider element, that actually had a good following in terms of members I'd be all over it. But eGriz is, and likely always will be what it is today, a place where 90% of the posts are complaints, bitching, armchair quarterbacking, and bickering. Life was easier here during the years where we had great teams, but its gone down hill since then.
