That IS surprising. Might go to show how much you can trust these polls. I figured we would drop at least 10 spots because of that beat-down.

Davidson jumped from 17 to 10. Should be a great matchup and it would be a very quality win for the Griz.

Thankfully, coaches jump the gun a little less than most fans do. This shows the GRIZ have earned some respect over the last few years from NCAA div 1 coaches, at least the ones on this panel. Any other loss to anyone but Davidson, will likely drop the GRIZ drastically.

That's a pretty impressive top 25. I've seen all of them but 4 or 5 in action; I think many of them are capable of a nice March Madness run. Some analysts are picking Gonzaga to make it to the Final Four. I'd really like to see some tournament wins by the mid-majors to further prove that Butler's recent success was not a fluke. Granted Butler is A 10 now and not considered a mid-major, but it's nice to see someone other than the Big 6 conferences make some waves.

Can anybody explain how we are ranked higher than BYU after that 25-point beatdown? I know we were missing Will, but really...

Not saying UM is better than BYU, or Weber for the matter (they beat us by 10 on our floor), but BYU isn't the same team that beat UM and Weber earlier in the year. They've lost 4 conference games, including 2 of their last 3 games (at San Diego and at home vs San Francisco by 12). They haven't been the same since Dellavedova hit that half court shot at the buzzer to beat them in Provo.

Note to self: Be damn glad we're not in the West Coast conference! :)

Just because 1 team beats another in the beginning of the season doesn't mean they automatically will stay ahead of them in the polls for all eternity. C'mon, any good basketball fan knows these things. The same goes for why we didn't drop 10 spots.

That's correct, I am a bad basketball fan. But if we played BYU today, we'd lose by at least 15-20.
Anyone can predict a score. That's not what we are talking about. We are talking about how polls work and how teams are rewarded for winning and penalized for losing(also dependant upon who those losses were to). We've won 15 of 16 (only loss to the 2nd place team) and BYU has lost 4 of last 9(and 2 of last 3 to sub .500 teams). You're right, I didn't mean to say any good basketball fan. I meant to say any intelligent basketball fan. You asked for an explanation and now you have it.
