Basically Trent McKinney is the guy with no platooning.

Trent's been THE GUY since about day 3 of fall camp, no shock to me. Adam Brzczeck showed improvement but hasn't caught up with Trent with ability to move the ball, spread the field, and show quick reactions with the zone read. He might in time... but he's not there right now and Trent makes the best sense for the offense.

As a Cat fan I hate to say this, but I really like Mick Delaney. He just seems like a good ol' dude who is who he is.

It's the Butte in him. I met him many years ago when I was attending Tech. His brother owned the Vu at that time. Mick used to help out. Always enjoyed our banter.

... absent is Montana's Jordan Johnson, who will not be with the Grizzlies in 2012. Johnson's status had been in question since May, and the Griz learned they'd be without their signal-caller at the end of June due to a messy off-the-field situation. If active, Johnson would have been near the top of this list.

But everyone must press on. So here it is -- our ranking of the Top 10 quarterbacks for the 2012 Big Sky Conference football season.

I keep telling all that listen to my banter.......We are going to suprise this season. Don't believe? Think I am dead wrong?

After game four ......^ If I am wrong you may pile on.

However I will not be wrong.......You will see the entire thing play out before your own eyes!

How can he show what he has got if he never gets reps with the first unit?

I have a feeling Rosenbach and Delaney are going with the old school philosophy of sticking with 1 guy. At least until, that 1 guys is not getting it done in games. QB controversies can cause some very unwanted problems. Stability is the key for the whole program, right now. That includes QB.

I am confident, the progress McKinney makes, will make GRIZNATION thankful for this decision so soon. :thumb:

And, I am on record for saying that the natives will be calling for Brez by game-3.

"The Natives" are gonna be calling for him all year, regardless of how Trent does.

If Trent sucks, Adam would get it done.
If Trent does well, Adam would do better.

I think we'll be okay with McKinney.

Perhaps, but just what is this "old school philosophy?"

I don't doubt for a minute that Timm Rosenbach is a very intelligent and accomplised QB coach; if not as an offensive coordinator:

When Rossenbach was on Paul Wulff's coaching staff with EWU for two years he had as a QB Fred Salanoa that passed for 3,057 yds for 60.2 % on pass attempts and 26 TDs in 2001 and a Josh Blankenship with a young Eric Meyer in 2002. Blankenship passing for 3,243 yds with a 59.8 % and 30 TDs.

Then Rosenbach went on the Washington State in 2003 where there was a kid from Havre by the name of Matt Kegel (6'5" 227 lbs) that was in his senior year. From 2004 through to 2007 it was primarily Alex Brink (6'2" 204 lbs), with a Josh Swogger around in 2004 & not much in 2005 but appearing in three games until he transferred afterwards.

In 2009 at New Mexico State there were two main QBs in a Jeff Fleming and a Trevor Walls. Maybe it was because it was on account of injuries, not too certain on that, but those two were the most prominent and each was a starter at sometime or another during that season.

Seems to me his experience is mostly with "pocket-style" QBs and I'm hoping the "Spread" isn't in the extreme beyond comprehension. Perhaps there might be a combination of the two this year (2012) since I don't ascertain much of a better QB coach for a Brady Gustafson when he becomes eligible after a redshirt year. But, at present, it's going to be interesting, to say the least.

And would this combination, if it becomes that, resemble the "flex offense" that Rich Ellerson had at Cal Poly from 2001 to 2007?
