Mick Delaney will coach the full season

The CURRENT assistant coaches are the ones who have already been recruiting the 2013 class and they will continue to do so regardless of the coaching search. It isn't like the staff is going to go the whole next season with no recruiting because of the coaching situation. I imagine at least a few of the current assistants will work under the impression that they will have the oppo to be a part of the next staff. This is a smart move by UM. Besides. Get an AD in place, keep continuity in the football program with a great figure head line Mick, let the current assistants do their work, and get a new head coach by December,

Side note: For what it's worth, I've heard not ONE single 2012 recruit has asked out of LOI as of this morning.
Why in the world would you have that impression?

I know that both Billings recruits have been exploring other options.

+1 mavgriz...let him coach him at least for 2012 and 2013, the years of the Griz!
He is not that old and he is wise.... :P

You guys obviously don't know Mick Delaney past his coaching resume and bio you found on the internet. Keep on thinking he doesn't hate the cats if it makes you feel better. Your O-line is going to be a joke and not even "Coach Mac" who all Bobcat fans want to blow, will save you.

Don't know where you think I said he will go over the top. I'm excited for the victory press conference because Mick is a great guy and he just beat the hated Cats. That is all. Mick is class

i never said that you said he'd be over the top. i just suggested that because i couldn't figure out what you were getting at. his press conference will probably be low key and certainly with class as you said. he may hate the cats with every ounce of his being. i just said i never got that impression when meeting him several times over the years. he is close friends with many locals and always seems to enjoy his time here. not that it matters. as of now he's your coach. he's gonna try to beat everyone on the schedule, and the cats will be no exception. and he'll do so with class as he always does.

good move by you guys as i already said. i really like the guy. :thumb:

Great news. Right after Pflu got fired a friend of mine that coaches in town told me he and Brady were re-thinking things. Both kids will be leaders at the school and Burke is gonna suprise some people with his toughness. Could see him being an impact special teams guy early on.

No matter what, Pflugrad's firing could have a multi-pronged effect — and not just on the 2012 season. Most important: How will potential recruits react? What about the players that have committed for this fall?
One such player, Billings Central's Ryan Burke, said he was "obviously pretty shocked. Right now it's got to be pretty hard on everybody, but I'm still excited to go up (to Missoula) and play. And this isn't going to change anything. I've wanted to play there forever.
"The tough part is that coach Pflugrad made the recruiting process so easy and he is such a good guy. It's really unfortunate, but I'm still excited to be a Grizzly and I hope everything works out for the best."

i'm not trying to be a dick, but do they have options other than going to a frontier team. other than kidder and weyer, i don't think any of the instate guys would be of interest to any fcs teams other than msu. i'm more concerned about some of the out of state guys. have any of them defected?

Mick has 44 years coaching experience, this man knows football, and kids, how can we go wrong, sit back and witness another great Griz football season folks, maybe one of the better ones we have seen for awhile!
