Michael Ray Richardson sighting

Grantland article after Game 1 in Oklahoma City:

"After two straight baskets, the guy sitting right behind me flipped out and just started screaming, "Give it to him! Give it to 35! Just give it to him every time! EVERY TIME!!!!!!!!"

You know who it was? Micheal Ray Richardson. He wanted the whole section to hear him. The implication was clear. I played professional basketball. I was really good once upon a time. I am blessing this experience for you. And he did."

oh, yeah, "the ship be sinkin'." one of the great quotes, back when players spoke from heart, before the publicity agents stuck cliches on them like post-it notes. funnier still was micheal ray's answer to the next question, "how far can the ship sink?" richardson: "sky's the limit!"

The Heat ship seems to be floating along to me. Talking heads have been saying that since they were down in the Indiana series. I must say, this series is shaping into a possible epic category. Is there anyone as cool, and fun to watch under pressure as Durant. He is a freak. My heart wants OKC, but my pocketbook wants Miami. At the moment, my pocketbook is winning that battle..

i just see the heat being too talented. i know one thing, i'm going to win a good chunk of change because i bet on the heat to win the series when they were down 0-1. odds have changed drastically after last night. great series for sure.

You probably said the same thing when when OKC was down 0-2 against San Antonio.. OKC will still win the series. 8-)

If it were based on the teams only, yes they would. However, the officiating has been questionably in favor of the heat in the Boston series, and now the OKC series. I hope I am wrong, but it looks like to me the league wants the Heat, and LeBron to get the title.

actually, i took the thunder in that series and were pretty surprised when they were down 0-2. but the bet was made so nothing i could do about it. they are just too young and deep for the spurs but i was definitely having second thoughts.

as for this series, i just think the heat has more talent. don't get me wrong, i love the thunder and think they are going to be a force for sometime. and i think this series will go 6 or 7. i just cannot look at that heat roster and bet against them.

as for the conspiracy theory and the nba wanting james to get a title....i just have never bought into that line of thinking. i heard that with the jordan teams and again this decade when the lakers were cleaning up. bottom line is there are good crews and bad crews. not to mention officiating has never been more difficult with the evolution of the game. for every blatantly missed call you come up with for the thunder....i bet i could find one where the heat got screwed too.

ILTC, I agree with you on the conspiracy gig..just can't buy it. A friend of mine and I were having a discussion on the officiating, and the idea came up that they should add another official. Two working the sidelines, and then one at each baseline. The speed of the game, specifically in this series, is crazy. The NHL added an official, and it seems to have helped.

that's funny as i had a similar discussion a while back. i just think officiating hoops in general is way more difficult than is used to be. i agree adding another ref would likely help. and they need to address the flopping too. it's just getting out of hand and if they do a better job with those calls making the right ones when there is legitimate contact may be at least a little easier.

Michael Ray.......I remember once the knicks were on the road in L.A., and upset the Lakers...and Magic Johnson. Ray outplayed Magic, and the knicks prevailed...After the game the game announcer said they were trying to line up Michael Ray for a tv interview....I believe someone informed them them that M.R. had a stuttering problem, and they decided not to do the TV interview...

In the next mornings paper, sure enough there was the sports write =up...Reporter tells Michael...."Hard not to notice that you , and Magic have very similar playing styles..then asks..What do you feel are the same. as well as any differences between you two?......Michael Ray replies...in the L.A. times.......something like.."Yeah...we have similar styles"....and then M.R. says something like...."And the big differences between Magic and I are.......I'm about 4 inches shorter than Magic, and he makes millions, ....and I make Koolaide!!!"

Talk about notable quotes... the guy sure had a few.. ...

if you still believe this and are a better i highly suggest putting money on the series. no team has ever won after being down 3-1....so you will make bank if you chose to put your money where your mouth is.
