Just saw it come across the sports wire. Lady Griz lost by 6 in Miami.

No news of course, just the score.

24 turnovers, shot in the low 30's for percentage. Another poor performance on the road it sounded like. Miami had one girl and that was it. She scored almost half their points and the announcer actually said at one point, "Miami is not a good basketball team." At one point, the lineup included Schmidtz, Conway, Closson, Gale and Cote. I believe it was about 49-40 with almost two minutes left.

I'm beginning to wonder if Selvig is coaching to win now, or win down the line. :-?

They've got to pull a string of wins together, because there's not one girl on this team who is used to losing. That could cause some problems if they stay at .500 going into conference.

Lady Griz go through a period every year where they can't shoot the ball. If they didn't, the Lady Griz would have lost only 1 or 2 games last year, instead of the 4 games (not including NCAA tournament). Gonzaga and Colorado State were the games last year where they lost due to bad shooting.

But, last year, losses were due to bad shooting, not bad playing. This year, they are losing due to costly turnovers on offense, and lack of communication on defense, though I think defense is improving. Defense should be where it should be by conference time if not sooner. Offense may be a different story.

For offense, it will all depend on the development of the bench where it consists of mostly very young and inexperienced players. In addition, Lady Griz do not really have a true point guard.

Jackie Deshazer is a big loss to this team right now even though point guard position would still not be up to par with her as it was with Brooklyn Lorenzen. But she would be much better then Monaco. Especially with protecting the ball. I have read some criticism of Deshazer against LSU, some of these critics saying she looked like she was lost. But, man I think anybody, especially a true freshman coming off the bench for the very first time, when LSU was on their big run or final push, come in with the lead being nervous and possibly scared of making a mistake that would lose the game, play for 1 or 2 minutes, leave with the lead and with no turnovers, deserves better than "She looked Lost". Those critics really did not look at the big picture.
