Just for fun here is what Joey Thomas from MSU did at the 2004 NFL Combine. (Not trying to get into a pissing match or even to say that Joey's better than Tru....just posting the info to compare)

420, the comment was something like nobody is even close to TRU at CORNER!!! so already your rebuttle is moot because Trey Young didn't play corner for the Griz. And Calvin Coleman? Come on. The second-best corner in Griz history next to Tru is easily Jimmy Wilson, prior to his off the field troubles. And yes, I have been watching the Griz long enough to know who Calvin Coleman, Johnny Peoples, Billy One Ivey and Acen Chiles were, among many other former Griz corners. Tru is hands down the best corner to EVER play at Montana and arguably one of the best all-around football players to play here too.
Some of you get so caught-up in the hype. Why don't you wait until TJ has a chance to play on Sundays, before you anoint him as the second coming.
I don't agree that he was avoided all of the time. Akpla (sp) has quite a few catches against him, and he was burned several times against NAU. He also missed several tackles on running plays throughout the year. He is a very good player indeed, but the hyperbole about him is ridiculous.

Deion Sanders was a terrible tackler (not comparing), but everyone gave him a break on it 'cause he made up for his deficiency with his other talents. Tru's a talented kid with a great future. He gave up a td in the south end zone on the east side. It wasn't a long pass. That was about the worst one I saw the whole season.
G1 doesn't know enough about football, and UM football, to be able to see and understand what coverage UM was in--and who was supposed to be in which position and help. Also, he just makes up stuff to support his views.
Many teams did in fact avoid throwing in his area or to his man. Not all teams, but many.

Tru is getting strong attention because of his potential to cover the Britts, Johnsons, and Marshalls of the NFL. This is why I see him staying at corner rather than safety. I could see a learning curve for Tru in learning to cover the hot route recievers and the burners. I see Tru being a project that will eventually press for time as a starter. I'd be very pleasently surprised if he caught the world on fire his rookie season.

Most of what I remember of Joey Thomas of MSU is that on every other play in his direction the referee had to throw a flag for pass interference. Always loved it when the Griz passed to his side of the field; it was like an automatic First Down every time. Surprised me when he got drafted; didn't surprise me that he didn't stick. He couldn't cover a piece of bread with butter and jelly in hand. :?
