Bobcat Beat

The waiting game continues for the Montana State Bobcats.

On the final play of MSU’s 31-30 loss at Southern Methodist University, Bobcat senior quarterback DeNarius McGhee suffered an injured shoulder. As MSU desperately tried to run a hook-and-ladder play as the game clock expired, McGhee was hit by an SMU defender out of bounds. His left arm was fully extended on the ground and the force would be similar to what would cause a torn labrum.

All news regarding the star gunslinger is speculative at this point. McGhee saw team trainers at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. He met with the team at 3:30 p.m. In a statement released by the school, McGhee is listed as questionable for next weekend’s home game against Division II Colorado Mesa State.

McGhee, the all-time leader in MSU history in wins (31) and touchdown passes (72), will “be examined and evaluated on Monday by team doctors. A clarification will be issued at some point following the examination”, MSU said in a release.

If McGhee is unable to play, his streak of 40 straight starts will be snapped. Jake Bleskin, a 6-foot-1, 186-pound sophomore from Great Falls, is McGhee’s backup. Dakota Prukop, a 6-foot-2, 193-pounder from Austin, Texas is MSU’s No. 3 quarterback.

The two-time Big Sky Conference Offensive Most Outstanding Player threw for 218 yards and a touchdown in MSU’s first loss of 2013. McGhee is 31-9 in his four years running Montana State’s offense. McGhee has 749 completions for 9,574 yards in his decorated career.

Senior defensive tackle Craig Ashworth (ankle) and senior kicker/punter Rory Perez (undisclosed) are also listed as questionable in this week’s injury report.

MONTANA STATE INJURY REPORT
OUT - SEASON: LB Na'a Moeakiola, WR Kurt Davis. OUT - INDEFINITELY: DE Preston Gale, LS Rocky Hogue, LB Rhett Young, OL Christian Williams, OL Charles Lee, DB Trace Timmer. QUESTIONABLE: DT Craig Ashworth, P/K Rory Perez, QB DeNarius McGhee. NOTE - DeNarius McGhee will be examined and evaluated on Monday. A clarification will be issued at some point following the examination.

I was only able to listen to the Bobcat game, so please correct me if i am wrong, but Ash ran a play that exposed Denarius on the last play of the game? The hook & ladder was intended to be pitched to Denarius? If true, this has got to be questioned over in Bobcat land.......
Sure hope the MRI shows a sprain and nothing worse.
Go Griz!
DM passed to Bleskin, Bleskin pitched to Johnson (I think) when he got cornered he pitched back to DM who got cornered on the sideline, I don't think that the original play intended for DM to get the ball back but he moved downfield behind the ball trying to make a play and was in position to get the pitch from Johnson.

On what week will the 10th best QB in the Big Sky,
fall out of the running for the Payton award?

My bet is it won't happen before another Foresters Ball mishap.

Yeah, don't forget to check the dockets on Monday after a bye week for some familiar names.....also the upcoming "BUST YOUR NUT" rave is coming up soon.....maybe Mick just banned the players from the mosh pit and not the party

No shit? You're actually going to venture to this board and talk that type of weak smack? First, whatever...secondly your boy is the one who currently has ruptured "his nut". But let Segway to kidnapping and murder, shall we dickweed? Or would you rather have an actual conver??

This thread really shows how classless most griz fans really are. Very Pathetic.

Please. 99% of the GRIZ posters on this thread supported DM. Hell, I started the thread in support and with well-wishes to DM. Where the lack of class came in was the msu TOOLS hoping that GRIZ players get arrested. And by the way, if you don't like us, you're welcome to quit posting here anytime. I promise you will NOT be missed.

Terrible news about DM. Hope he's back after the inter-squad game next week.

If McGhee is out, here are the 2012 and 2013 stats of the no. 2 qb, Bleskin:

Jake Bleskin 5 112.8 3-4-0 75.0 18 0 11 3.6 - 3 carries for minus 11 yards

Jake Bleskin 1 108.80 2-4-0 50.0 28 0 20 28.0 - 1 carry for 5 yards

Even if Bleskin has talent and potential, why wouldn't they start gearing up Roderick?

This blows. Hang in there. Side note: if they've already read the MRI, that is some speedy freaking non-emergent radiology!

I was wondering the same thing with Roderick.

Jake is the number two guy. You can't look at his stats as he has only played during garbage time. He is a really talented, smart athlete. He is avery accurate passer and has a good arm. I think he will do fine. If McGhee is out, this is his chance to show what he can do. The coaches are also very high on Prukrop. He may even have more speed than Bleskin and has a huge arm.

Does DM have a redshirt available if the injury is season ending?

Hopefully it's not and he can continue a great career. He's a real talent and a gamer, rival or not that's easy to respect. Character as well, I wish him every success in ALL future endeavors. :thumb:

It's not such a big deal if " Clown Shoes" McGhee is done because I remember some cat posters saying they had some big time depth at QB after Clown Shoes was gone. This I'm not sure of. Just going off what I read from cat posters.

Well after what most scat posters said about the Griz football team last year, fuck it. FTC. I thought I could try to be nice but I'm not a nice guy so I'm not gonna fake it. Although I hope he does plays again, but not really to concerned about it. This is football and injury is part of the risk when you play. Hope to see him back at least in time for Griz/cat.

McGhee used his red-shirt his 1st year on campus, so it's long gone. He is a 5th year senior.

I hope Mondays left shoulder MRI with the Doctor goes well for him. He's a good player, I'd hate to see him go out like this. Good luck DM.

I'm looking forward to the Griz taking down the cats again in Bozeman for the 2nd straight time with McGhee at the helm.

:egriz:

Hopefully he's not done....that would remind me too much of the crappy end to Andrew Selle's Griz career...

Well if you expect me to take the high road, I think you're gonna have to talk to 420 about that.
