.....after you berated him endlessly for quitting on the team!
You should have watched the game sooner. I thought you were there.....even at JD Quinn's big party with a bunch of names you dropped almost as endlessly as you shit on McDowell.
I mostly praised McDowell. I said he had helped lead the team to Frisco, although he hadn't played as well later in the season. "McDowell was much more than a game manager. He made plays. He picked up a lot of 3d downs. Less so late in season. He isn’t reason Griz went to Frisco, Griz don’t get there without him. 11-1 as starter." 4/6/24.
I repeated what Morningweg has said about him, something like becoming a superstar, or whatever he said. I didn't berate McDowell endlessly. I didn't shit on McDowell. I eventually said another Big Sky coach told me that it looked that he didn't want to play and be there in the second half. I was there, and I have said said that I saw him down after the big hit, saw him get up slowly and limp a bit, and saw him a bit later doing an exercise bike on the sideline. However, I never heard that he had actually gotten hurt in the second half until about a year later, or than some chatter/speculation, when I think he said it.
Here are some of the things I said. Where's the berating and shitting on him stuff. Sorry, not there. You just made it up.
"I can see the policy reasons for not allowing McDowell back. I too would have been fine with letting him correct his big goof up in the first few weeks, but, again, fine with Hauck's view." 3/26/24.
"Good point and good post. A starter told me what you said in the first week after McDowell departed. He basically said goodbye (almost good riddance), next man up, and Griz will be fine. I wonder if his teammates didn't love him." 3/27/24.
"'m fine with a player moving on from one team to come to another (including UM). However, the definition of quitting, and bad quitting, is to start for a team, go to the national championship game, and then go portal, i.e. quit, when the portal opens and enroll and starting practicing with another school. The transferring is one thing, but the quitting for my team, or any team, and then wanting to come back a few months later is the definition of bad quitting. It's both the quitting and moving on that creates the big problem. Quitting one day, and then coming back in the next day and saying you made a mistake and want to come back is another thing. UM moved from McDowell when he left, and brought in a transfer, presumably with some assurances (not that he would start). UM used McDowell's scholarship." 4/5/24.
"Do you think McDowell played well in the playoffs, and in the last 3 games? How about the 2d half of the championship game? Kem's stats aren't cherrypicked in any respect. Here's what another Big Sky coach told me after the game. "He [McDowell] didn’t look like he wanted to be in the game Sunday from about 1/2 way through the 3rd Qtr till end of game." 4/6/24.
"Did you answer the question of whether McDowell played well in the playoffs?I don't know a single person who thought he did. He didn't make as many big/important plays. He didn't pick up as many important first downs, and 3d down conversions, as he had earlier in the season." 4/8/24
