McDowell back in the portal

The possibility of his being allowed to come back, is a kick in the teeth to any QB on the team. They bust their collective ass and actually COMMIT to staying, the coaches then say, 'We're letting him come back, but has to compete with you guys. Doesn't matter that he f*cked us over three months ago, we're gonna give him a chance........to do it to us again!'

And what about the rest of the team seeing this sh*t? 'Hey, they do it to the QBs, they'll do it to us in a heartbeat!' Team dedication GONE, team morale GONE, Griz Football....DONE with. Slippery slope to oblivion.

Bobby may have brought the Griz back, but it would be short sighted stupidity if he lets this self-serving nut case back. The only thing Bobby should give him is Jerome's Havre phone number.
Question: why are you ok with a guy “quitting” on one team and moving to OUR team, but not a guy quitting on OUR team, realizing he’d made a mistake, and asking to come back?

You didn't ask me, but, yes, I'm fine with a player moving on from one team to come to another (including UM). However, the definition of quitting, and bad quitting, is to start for a team, go to the national championship game, and then go portal, i.e. quit, when the portal opens and enroll and starting practicing with another school. The transferring is one thing, but the quitting for my team, or any team, and then wanting to come back a few months later is the definition of bad quitting. It's both the quitting and moving on that creates the big problem. Quitting one day, and then coming back in the next day and saying you made a mistake and want to come back is another thing. UM moved from McDowell when he left, and brought in a transfer, presumably with some assurances (not that he would start). UM used McDowell's scholarship.

Now, if Hauck and the team/seniors want to bring him back now, that's fine with me.

But trying to compare McDowell's situation to any of our other transfer QB's situations is not the same and is ridiculous. And trying to compare McDowell's situation to Vidlak's is also ridiculous. Not saying you did those things.

Dude, from the time I joined this board and disagreed with you, you went straight to calling me "Bobby's Ball Boy," and plenty of other names. I've made legitimate points to you, and your only response was to either claim I am a crappy fan who doesn't understand anything or accuse me of being an alt account of Hoops. And that is just me, who has posted here for less than a year.

You can't now play the card of losing respect for people if they call names. Practice what you preach.
Find my post where I called you "Bobby's Ball Boy". I'll wait

I will stand firmly behind saying you are a Griz homer with a very basic understanding of the game of football. Not that there is anything wrong with that. There are plenty of pedestrian fans on here unable to engage in a meaningful discussion about the finer points of the game of football without blathering on about how great everything is around Griz football. They exist in every team's fan base. But this site and the Bobcat site are the worst I have seen for this. Must be an FCS thing. Go on any FBS team site and there will be plenty of spirited threads which would be never allowed on egriz, because they are "negative".

This kind of goes to my initial thought when I heard he was back in the portal. Imagine getting a proven FCS QB from the portal who also happens to know the system and all eight of our plays. Just treat it like he went on Rumspringa and decided come back to the farm.

How many freaking QBs do we need on the team? We brought in some QBs who expect to compete for the starting QB job. Senario #1- How would the new recruits feel if McDowell was allowed back and won the starting job? What would the mood of the QB room be at that point? Would this affect this chemistry of the team? Senario #2- Will McDowell play nice if he comes back, but does not start after he "led the team to the NC game last season"?

Interesting, AZ gives his opinion but you arrogantly pretend to speak for everybody. Well you don't speak for me, and AZ is one of the posters who I enjoy reading their thoughts and opinions, whether I agree or disagree with those opinions and thoughts. You, not so much.
Then put me on ignore. Nobody holds a gun to your head to read my posts

I think we have a lot of players with “QB” next to their names, but not sure how many QBs we have.

In your scenarios (not Senario, which sounds like Super Mario’s Latino counterpart):

#1 If a QB doesn’t want to compete for the job, tough. Isn’t that what is rumored to have started this whole thing? Why would the staff treat a new recruit any differently?

#2 Who cares? If he can’t handle being QB2, he can leave again, and it will mean we have a better QB than him. I’d take that any day, but it doesn’t sound like we have that in reading reports.

Just because someone is a narcissist, it doesn’t actually make them smarter than everyone else, they just think they are. There’s a difference most narcissists don’t comprehend.

It would be great if you could mosey to any of those sites and kinda just forget how to get back to this one.

Couldn't agree more...there has to be a concern if one of the other guys beats him out then he reacts or splits the team dynamic because they feel the decision was made because of his past actions. I'm trying to grab at the positives but I'm not coming up with much!

Because one already knew and one doesn't. If you know and "quit", then it seems like you maybe don't want to be a part. I can see him being 3rd or 4th string, having to build back trust, and having to outplay the guys in front of him by a lot to even get a sniff.

I think that's probably where most people, even those of us that really want to see Clifton back, are at. I certainly don't want the job handed back to him. I personally just don't see a single downside to him coming back as a walkon, if the rumors of that happening are indeed true.

Answer: What 'hoops' said. YEAH! And don't mess with me again! 🤣

Seriously, I will try to answer your question in a comprehensive manner, AZ, as I do respect your opinion.

When McDowell quit the first time and went 'Portal' on da Griz, I was disappointed(to say the least). Evidently, he thought top tier FCS football was beneath him, and has been quote saying the same thing, basically.

He enters the Portal, arms extended, proclaiming(by his actions) 'I'm here, you may now kiss my ring, my feet, AND my ass!' Crickets, except for Temple. Temple all but states he looks great and has the inside lane at starting. His dream, starting FBS QB.
Not good enough for him, as he QUITS TEMPLE and re-enters the portal, AND seeks a waiver from UM because he has quit and transferred from so many schools in his football career(five quits, Louisiana, Kilgore, C. Arkansas, Montana, and Temple, six counting quitting his Southern U. 'commit'). Crickets.

Now, it is rumored at least, he wants to come back to the Griz? How much chutzpah does THAT take? He thinks he is such hot sh*t, and that the FBS world would beat a path to his door. He...was...WRONG!!! Now, he expects, EXPECTS, to be forgiven and welcomed back with open arms(and presumably be the starter on day one, based on his personality traits).

I'd tell him he is welcome back to WGS,

(read the whole sentence before you stroke out)

to WATCH one of the best FCS teams(players, coaching staff, and FANS) play, from whatever seat he can find(and afford). There, he could dwell on what might have been, could have been, and should have been(if only he had gotten his head out of his entitled/pampered ass).

Go Griz!
FTC!
FMcDowell!

Next question? 🙂

Rumspringa! 🤣
Where the hell did you come up with THAT? I had to look it up, but, damn, I learned something today. I don't believe McDowell is Amish, so No! Maybe in another 10-20 years, if he grovels sufficiently, for me. I'll be dead and gone by then, so a OUIJA BOARD will be needed to get my vote.

'Jerk Store.' Another zinger. Not a fan of 'Seinfeld,' so I looked it up. Fansastic lines. Link:

Well done. You da King!👏
