All good points. Riddle me this. With that type of coaching experience and those resumes, why wouldn’t one of them convince the head coach that their defensive scheme is never going to win a national title against the likes of the Dakota teams and MSU. Power run games tear through a defensive picket fence with players weighing under 280 and consistently under 260. U of M has not proven they can stop a run team. Just haven’t proved it and I don’t see it happening this year. With all that coaching experience you would think it is obvious and they would have worked to shore up this deficits in the off season. Baffling to me.UncleRico said:Ihatelife said:If you enjoy making statements you should expand your ability to explain them. Makes for better conversations.
134-84 as a head coach. A defensive coordinator that won a national championship at Colorado, played years in the NFL and then coached in the NFL. Tim Hauck played in NFL and won a Super Bowl as a coach. An offensive coordinator that was a coordinator in the SEC. Look at resumes of guys coaching at every position. Yep zero coaching ability. They just miraculously were given those positions and won those titles. The last couple years haven’t met expectations but to say these guys don’t have the resumes to be coaching at an FCS school is pretty ignorant . And to think they aren’t capable of making adjustments and rallying this team is also ignorant. So yea I get what Spanky is saying.

Try providing something of substance on egriz. You are a loser.

Translation: Good, not great or considerable. Just good. Kind of like a tool that seems useful but isn’t correct for the job. Or like a ham sandwich at a Barmitzvah.

A number of good teams use the 3-3-5. See TCU. Changing the whole to try to help beat a few top teams at he expense of having a D to help against the bulk of your schedule isn’t necessary, in my view. UM clobbered MSU in 2021. They had good running. UM has lost to NDSU and MSU in recent years. Was JMU a heavy running team? The Griz run D is usually very good in most seasons. NDSU had a bunch of long runs last year. I didn’t go back to see what caused or allowed those.
Not all of the Griz coaches love the 3-3-5.
My view is that executing well is the most important part.
I suppose another question would be why don’t we have a heavy run game with less passing if most of the top several teams do.
I talked to a ST player after practice yesterday. He said he loved Bobby and he was a great coach, the best he had ever had. I suppose he hasn’t had many, but his dad has been the ST coach of the Jets for 8 years. This anecdote is not intended to address the main subject of this discussion.

The TCU team, that when they finally played a great team (Georgia), got pounded unto the turf by 58 points?

I judge teams by seasons not one game. TCU’s problem was Georgia not just the defensive scheme. My family got to go to both of those games. Both were fun games. My family has been following Georgia for 25 years.

I guess you have heard of social media, where people talk about what they do and where they went all the time.
I am the opposite of little man syndrome. I think you are the little man syndrome guy. Are jealous of people who do and have more than you.
