Matt Troxel hired as Offensive Assistant

Looks like this is Stitt's attempt to let go of the reins in the dual capacity of being HC and OC at the same time. He said he would look at the program top to bottom to make changes and this seems to be a prudent move. Let's see how this evolves in spring ball.
I suspect considerable Haslam involvement. He has been under tremendous pressure from key boosters. Don't think Stitt did this on his own initiative.

In my opinion, our HC that wants to be the OC is the reason for the season meltdown.

The focus on both jobs wasnt there...
That theory doesn't correlate with the results on the field. We've performed better with Stitt more involved.

How many D1 football programs have the same person performing both jobs.

Stitt is not giving up calling plays and he wasn't ordered to do so by anyone in the athletic department. Doesn't mean Troxel won't be a big part of what's going on, but Stitt is not giving up calling plays and Kent didn't tell him to.

Probably true; has someone suggested otherwise?

Post of the year
Did someone just create an account to nominate a poty? Oh that's tooo much :D

Yeah, I'm guessing that was outsider quoting himself. Because it wasn't funny.

No - Very Funny.    Gotta explain things to the NDSU fan in simple terms.

A good hire for sure!

And certainly better than that former div 3 player that had a chip on his shoulder while coaching higher level players at Div 2 and Div 1 FCS levels... :thumb:

No need to shit on Swett....I don't think that ruling with an iron fist is a bad thing in some cases. Just didn't work out here. He's a young and bright guy, I hope he lands on his feet.

A good definition would be: Asst OC. Stitt apparently is recognizing his limitations as both HC & OC. If he wants to keep his job, he'll have to have a FT OC and turn his attention to not only the D, but most importantly, an area he has ignored, ST. At CSM, he didn't have the pressure to win that he does at UM. ST, there, probably wasn't high on his list. W/ Bobby, it was. And, Bobby was right!

Then why was the offense more productive and diverse when Stitt was more involved as an OC?

Everyone is screaming for a different coach to be named OC and Stitt to focus on being more of a CEO, but in the last two years the team has been better with more Stitt involvement.

How do we know which games Stitt was more involved in to compare?

It's better measured by seasons than games.
