Being from the seattle area, I've actively followed U-Dub all season (as well as being here for the griz games)....so here's what i see...
1) Washington has no one over 6'8" on their roster who plays. Every one (minus sub Hakeem Rollins) can shoot the three-ball very effectively. This includes starting "post" Mike Jensen.
2) Everyone is quick. Guards Nate Robinson and Will Conroy play a fast-paced yet controlled backcourt game. Both of them, as well as Brandon Roy, Tre Simmons, Bobby Jones, and any of their replacements can run the offense at any given time. Basically, Rollins is the only player on the team that is not what you'd categorize as a run-and-gun style player (yet he can still run the floor with the best of them).
3) They're a team that is either on or off, as a team. One night they'll lose to an OSU or Stanford and the next they'll overpower Arizona. They are beatable if they're having an off night IMO (having watched nearly every one of their games that was broadcast on tv over here this season - quite a few actually).
4) They have a winning mentality and will obviously be looking to blow us out of the water in a very high-scoring and fast-paced game.
5) Matching up defensively for us will be an adventure. We'll actually need to play D outside the 3 point line and not in a zone. If we go zone (to be able to use seyfert, davis, etc. effectively), we better hope that they're off because they'll keep jacking them up whenever they get a chance.
6) Athletically, Washington is amazing. And i think that this will be where we get our main challenge. To even match up athletically and i'm not talking bball talent or who actually should start, we'd need: Matthews, Farr, Dlouhy, and some clones of those few. Taking away nothing from Martin, Criswell, Davis, etc., we're playing against some guys that at times seem superhuman in their athletic ability (see, Nate Robinson), and I hope that our guys prove me wrong!
7) They're a better team (yup, 1 vs. 16), but I'd love for us to give them a game and make a little excitement happen in round one! We can always hope! I'll be yelling for the griz!
Edit: changed ASU to OSU, realized my typo.
