Manu Rasmussen - Safety

Well-known member
I posted this in another link, but I think it got lost in the shuffle.

Does anybody know if Manu Rasmussen is going to be back at safety? He signed in 2014 and you can find his player profile on the gogriz.com web site (see link below), however, he has not been listed on the roster all year. Could he be a victim of academics or did he quit?

Thanks in advance for any information.

I beleive he suffered some soft of injury early in practice and was done for the year. Probably removed from the roster cus of that.

This is weird...Manu was #8 for the Griz.

Eric Prater's twitter account says, "QB at The University of Montana | #8 | Go Grizz!"
(Prater was #15 at Hawaii)

Manu Rasmussan must be really good too, because Mick said that Rasmussan was 1 of 5 players that might play as a True Freshman. Not the other HS signee, Evan Epperly.

GRIZ CAMP/NOTES: Practice number 20 tonight (Wednesday, Aug. 20), will be the team's final two-a-day session.

Head coach Mick Delaney said that just a handful of true freshman might be activated in 2014. Those five players are linebacker Josh Buss (6-3, 195, from Boise); wide receiver Reese Carlson (6-4, 215, from Gig Harbor, Wash.); running back Lorenzo Logwood (5-8, 190, from St. Mary's College HS in Oakland, Calif.); safety Manu Rasmussen (6-0, 180, from Tigard, Ore.); and offensive tackle David Reese (6-7, 270, from Clackamas, Ore.). Delaney said that the one frosh player who would definitely play is Logwood.

Never mind, not wierd, I forgot that one #8 plays D, and 1 #8 plays O. So that works.

Yup, it does. It drives me crazy to have two players with the same number, but....

I'm looking forward to seeing RS-FR Manu Rasmussan on the field this year, the kid was one hec of an athlete in HS. At RB, he ran for nearly 2.000 yards and 31 TDs his SR year, and was an Oregon class 6A, 1st teamer.

He was first verbally committed to ewu in Nov 2013, and up close to signing day in Feb 2014. But then chose Montana.

He should bring some athleticism to the Griz safety position.

Good because that's one of the positions I'm worried about in 2016.

You should have no worries. There is gonna be a great battle there with some good young athletes. Manu and Evan Epperly will be RSSo's and Josh Sandry and Jerrin Williams will be RSFr in '16 and all should be great players here. Intresting that Epperly and Sandry were in the same defensive backfield in 2013 at Glacier High.

Epperly grew up in Bigfork:

Epperly was a basketball kid in his youth, but his body was a better fit for football in college.

As an 8th grader in Big Fork, Evan Epperly was his team's top scorer with 400 points, giving him an average of 28.6 points per game. He also led the team in 3-pointers with 24 and had the best average from the free-throw line, 66 percent, having made 48 of his 73 shots.
