Mandy's POW streak over, Sonya's streak begins

Mandy didn't earn player of the week this time.

But Sonya Rogers was named player of the week along with ISU's Doma.

I really expected Guardipee to be named POW, but I guess Sonya's 27 points against PSU and 11 points against EWU was more noticeable, and just as deserving.

Anyway, of the nine weeks there has been a player of the week, there has been 7 Lady Griz players named. Mandy was named 5 times, Clossen and Rogers once each.

4 times the POW award was shared by other players in the conference. Mandy, Doma, and Tuomi are the only players to win POW outright.

I think that Sara Tuomi of Weber State is a sleeper at this point. She's playing under the second-longest tenured coach in the the conference in Carla Taylor and Weber returned all their starters from last year, and Tuomi (from Billings Senior) is one of them. Her numbers are great (16.4 ppg and 6.7 rpg) and is someone you wouldn't want to foul (she leads the Wildcats in free-throws made and attempted).
