Makena Simis to Montana

I truly hope they give him the 3 to 5 year window he wants, because I think he is the right man at the right time and will help sooth alot of angst all over the state.

:thumb: Plus, we would all like to have a long term coach. Mick said himself that this head coaching position has reinvigorated him. I bet he'd stick around for the rest of his career if given the opportunity (which will depend on how this season pans out). Would be nice if UM werent perpetually a stepping stone job. He seems to be assembling a very capable staff too. The addition of Hynson is great because of his versatility. He can coach d-backs, running backs, tight ends, and hes also been an o-coordinator/assistant coordinator.

He's 70. How much of a "career" do you think he has left? :?

As much as he damn well pleases. Don't be an agist? ;)

That's a nice video. It shows the throws he an make, shows how well he reads the field, shows his pocket presence. AND --- there's no music. Somebody's dad knows what he's doing.

Agreed griz4life. Simis seems to see (and hit) the open reciever. Doesn't force the ball into coverage (like d.mcghee). With him, JJ, Hermanson, Lebsock, etc... the Griz are getting coach's kids who know the game inside and out.

Griz5700, obviously you weren't watching the same clips as the rest of us. The kid loves to play the game and is skilled. He has great vision and a very quick release with a lot of pace. A 64% completion rate in that offense is rare. Welcome to your new home, Makena!

I like this kid's field presence too. I think he could be a very good one. The coaches must have seen something they really like in camp to offer him.

Capital High is Boise is somewhat like Capital in Helena. They are always a football power. Good program, good players and good coaches.

He is an older guy. Im just saying that if he wants to finish his career here, and felt like staying 5-10 years, I would welcome even a little longevity with a head coach.

Looks like a good kid...only he was taller. Where are all the tall QB's? Not all go to FBS....
We have tall covered with Gustofson. This kid is listed at 6'2" which is the same as Ochs, Bergquist and Selle. Taller than JJ, Miller, Ah Yat or DD. If he's actually 6'2", it's just about optimum for this offense.

the kid from billings west is a stud throwing the ball, big arm, graduated with honors, leader, rewrote all records at west high, etc.,,,simis share some of the same talents, at 6' 2" quicker etc.,,,which leads me to the confused question of where do they fit....they really are two completely different qbs with skill levels set for two different types of offense....one more pf a pro and the other a spread/option......depending on the offense that is actually run, someone is going to be upset and wished they would have gone elsewhere....

Isn't this the way it is with 66% of a college football roster? If we have competitive athletes who are happy with being career 2nd, 3rd and 4th string players, I'd be disappointed.

Not that impressed - mechanics and speed particularly. His dad's a coach, kid has intangibles, don't really care for any of that. Best of luck to the kid though.
Yeah, intangibles don't matter at all in QB's :?

Thank you Mayor

But with the entitlement generation we have coming up now, a good percentage of that 66% end up transferring...

...I find it funny that so often that many "grown-ups" are grumbling and complaining about these damn kids being entitled, and not once do they ever blame the parents of the kids. That is the root of the problem, in my opinion. :twocents:

Parents and grandparents have been saying stuff like this for what, 250 years? 500 years?

Remember when you thought you'd never be like your old man? Well, you are. Congratulations, old-timer.

This. How you view this generation is no different than how your parents viewed your generation.

The "root" of the problem lies in Washington, DC. ;)

I find it funny that when someone cracks a joke that hits too close to home, some people take it personally. 8-)
