Loyola Football Game

Fairfield and Malta will win.
Billings West, Helena Capital, Dillon, Billings Central, and Twin Bridges will all win.

I can't predict Fairview/Chinook game for other reasons.

Dont count Loyola out just yet - Fairfield (Fairview, FTC, whoever) had a rough time in their last game (at home) and won by 6 (maybe 5?) - let the crucification begin now..... don't get on me for spelling errors........ GO RAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fairfield was on the road against Manhattan in the snow...

MHSA.org

use it.

you sure about that? why would the #1 seed be on the road? my bracket comes from my wife - dont think they were on the road? and what difference does snow make in montana????? and they BARELY won......

The game was in Manhattan. The state power poll has nothing to do with seedings in the playoffs. It is done by finish and the conference you are in.

Fairfield wins.

then why would Loyola get a HOME game IF they beat Fairfield against the winner of Ronan/Malta? Makes no sense to me since both sides have a better record yet Loyola gets the home game? Dont get me wrong - love to see Loyola at home but your argument does'nt match?

yessir..

I worked Fairfield the last several years. Fairfield is always quality.

My dad has been to a few of the Malta games and has a very good friend who coaches for Choteau. Who has played both Fairfield and Malta. The Choteau guy said that both teams are very talented and extremely well coached, but Malta has more athletes and is 3 touchdowns better. Also said that the Harris kid is going to be a good one.

If that works out, it's going to be a GREAT game. I mean GREAT. In Fairfield though. They have been in state title game so many years and not won so I have to give it to them. Coach Miles will have them ready.

anybody from class B worth pursuing from the griz? Loyola has one in Josh Jansen (sp.??) the kid is a stud - plays all positions - would be best as a WR - not a coach, but the kid is an athlete that could easily play at the Griz level - good student, tremendous athlete..... amyone else?

I've met Les. Very good and classy guy who deserves a championship. Would be happy for Fairfield if they could finally pull off the hardware. Obviously, I have to pull for the Mustangs though...

I like Les too as long as he keeps his coaching staff off the sidelines! :D

They (MHSA?) pre-determine the Home Sites. It happened to us when we played Big Fork in the semi-finals over a decade ago. Higher-ranked, better or equal record, but still had to travel there.

The MHSA doesn't select the homesites, the individual classes do. They make up the rules as to who hosts. If you look at class AA vs. A vs. B vs. C. you wil see that they are all different. The individual school classifications make up the rules. MHSA does not.

Manhattan has a solid defense and they run the Wing-T which is awfully hard to contain in high school. Fairfield is a good team, better than Loyola, but I think Malta is the best team. But "only" beating Manhattan by 6 isn't that big of a deal, Manhattan has one hell of a team and got an unlucky draw getting matched up against Fairfield so soon. Manhattan would have beaten Loyola, hell, they blew out Ronan earlier in the year, 34-0 or something I think.

To be fair, the MHSA is made up of member schools from all the classes and makes no real decisions or rules without voting or consultation of its affected members. So saying the MHSA determines the home sites is really the same thing as saying the member schools of class B make the rules.

Fairfield vs Manhatten might have been the game to determine 2nd place. Malta looks real tough. Don't put a whole lot of stock in a close game with Manhatten because those 3 teams are the top of class B this year. King in Malta is making his way up the all time win chart in Montana football. Over 200 now I think. What Les Meyer has done in Fairfield is nothing short of a miracle. He has made a basketball school also a football school. He has also done it at the smallest class B school enrollment wise in the state. The mentality that has been ingrained in those kids to compete and compete early (agewise) is amazing.

I am not sure they get past Malta this year, but they could.

What he has done is impressive, but the following Class B schools are equal to or smaller than Fairfield according to the MHSA. The new numbers for this year are not out yet though so I suppose its possible that a couple of those schools have a bigger enrollment as of right now.
Fairfield 128
Broadus 128
Plentywood 126
Lame Deer 125
Baker 119
Lodge Grass 111
