Fom GF Tribune story about Virgil Mathews:

Matthews, a Washington native who had starred at Centralia Community College, ended up signing with the Grizzlies in July. Few around the league were aware of him.

"We didn't really know much about Virgil," said Montana State coach Mick Durham, "until the Big Sky tournament — when he single-handedly destroyed us."

In Montana's 79-67 victory over the Bobcats in the tournament semifinal game, Matthews came off the bench and had 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Martin was the other one who destroyed them in that game. I'd actually prefer to to see him lose his mind against the cats...just to piss them off more...throw Durham to the floor...don't let him score...make his nice ass sore

Wish we had a point guard, but all of ours are no longer with the team. I'm jealous that you have 3 point guards that all contribute, and one as good as Matt Martin who is only a sophomore.

I'll try to hide my jealousy a little better in the future, but it will be hard after today's game. You may see me on TV. I'll be the one on wearing the "FTG" t-shirt, with a barf bag by my side, so I can use it everytime Durham chucks up a 3 pointer (brick), the Griz get the rebound, and answer with a made 3 pointer from Matt Martin. After seeing Durham shoot this year, I now truely understand why our field house is called BRICK Breeden Field House

Fixed that for ya Gavin :)

all i can say anymore is go griz! and is its gonna be a good game, probably not but we can imagine right?

Thats pretty funny....Martin isnt a punk

I can understand labeling calling Martin a punk if you're not a griz fan just as I would expect any non-cats to say it about Durham. Some players just get worked into a froth by an "electric" atmosphere. They're usually the cockiest players on the team and some of the most entertaining to watch.

I thought it was sweet when Martin put an elbow into Durham's nethers and then made a half-courter in his face in last year's BSC tourney. :tounge:

I've hung out with Martin before, and hes punk isn't the first word that comes to mind. Maybe a little bit cocky, but hell, any player playing D-1 basketball is going to have a little cockyness and confidence, thats just part of the game. Seems to me there are way more punks in Bozo now a days, like watching the pre-game introductions before the Cat-Griz game this year, just about everybody turned to eachother in the room when the Cats were introducing themselves and asked, "Since when did MSU move their campus down into Compton?".
