Loss vs Stanford

Sounds like we really competed tonight and had a few chances to cut the lead to single digits in the 2nd half.

Is it me, or should Seyfert and Lynch get ouf Division I basketball. At one point Seyfert had scored 4 points, had 4 fouls, 5 turnovers, in 9 minutes. For a 6-10 player to put up that stat line, come on. Figure it out.

Griz lost to Stanford by 18 points today. Looking at the score, it looks like it wasn't a very good game today.

But, it wasn't all that bad at all. Shooting was better today. Shot 48% for the game. They did maintain a 54 to 55% average for most of the game until the last 5 minutes of the game they missed some shots and average dropped a little.

One thing that looked real bad in this game was rebounding. Griz outrebounded 18 - 8 in the first half. But second half, they outrebounded Stanford, and Stanford only lead in rebounding for the whole game 33 to 25.

What hurt Griz were turnovers in the second half, Stanford shot 53% from the field making 4 more shots than the Griz.

Also, Stanford shot 18 - 25 from the free throw line vs Montana making just 8 of 14. The 4 extra field goals and the 10 point difference from the line were the difference in the game.

Leading scorers for Griz were Criswell with 16 on 5 - 8 from the field, 3 - 5 from 3 point line, and 3 - 3 from free throw line.
Matt Martin made 14 points on 5 - 13 from field, 4 - 10 from 3 point line.
Andrew Strait made 10 points on 5 - 9 from the field.

Criswell, Strait, and Mckay lead the team in rebounds with 4 each.

This was Stanfords best game shooting today. Just happened to be against Montana.

Griz turned the ball over 19 times today. Only 8 times in first half. It was looking like Griz were better today in regards to turnovers, but 11 in second half hurt the Griz. Griz came close to getting the deficit under 10 points a number of times in the second half, but lost opportunities due to turnovers and missed shots cost us.

This game was a very good game for the Griz in tuning up for Conference. Seeing that they shot the ball better than games past, is an indication to me that the players are not down on themselves.

*******

There are now two more games left of non-conference.

December 30 Eastern Michigan and
January 2 Rocky Mountain College (ugh)

Eastern Michigan will be good and be a good tune up for conference. Rocky Mountain College game should give all the players quite a bit of playing time.

Go Griz!!!!!!!!!

It seems to me that no one is willing to give Rocky Mountain College any respect. Anyone remember two years ago when Rocky had a chance to win and only lost by 2. Also, didn't Montana Tech beat us in the 2nd half and we had our starters in with two minutes to go. Also Coach K wasn't happy about losing the 2nd half.

Let's make sure our guys understand that they need to show up and play vs Rocky, b/c Frontier teams are very capable of beating Big Sky Teams. Carroll and Westminster both beat Idaho State.

For a guy who thinks he knows who should and shouldn't being playing Division 1 basketball, you would think he would know how to spell Stanford (its not Standford buddy) considering they are one of the more elite programs.

Hey 'griz3211', it sounds like maybe the Griz should let you give out their scholarships. Maybe even help them out with their scheduling and preperation of Frontier teams. Hell, maybe Krysco will even let you sit on the bench and refill his water cup.

It is those games against Rocky, Montana Tech, etc that seemed to cause the Griz to play down a level which creates these close games.

I don't mind them early on in the season, but as a tuneup game for the conference, it is a joke.

Coach K is still trying to figure out combinations-I think he is making progress. tanford had a giant front line. Free throws do need to imrove.

I am a bit surprised by all the non conference games that we have this year. I am having trouble finding the common link. Stanford I can understand but this Michigian school, I am surpised they want to spend the moeny to come out here.

ISU lost to Carroll and Westminster playing a rotation of guys, who cares they were EXHIBITIONS... When it counted, we beat Montana Tech by 49 points, 109-60. We will beat Montana in January, bank on it... Next year, we will destroy the BSC, we are LOADED next year, and should finish in the top three...

FYI - The game vs Idaho State for Montana Tech was an exhibition. I heard vs Idaho State they rolled the ball out and played an up tempo style, compared to slowing it down vs Montana.

IDAHO STATE - you still lost to 2 NAIA Schools.

How do you predict that you will crush the BSC but finish 3rd in the league?

Idaho State is not very good this year. Neither is Montana State. Both teams were coming into the season not looking very good and both lost their best player after a couple of games. These teams are going to struggle for wins this year. I really don't think ISU is going to beat Montana this year.

As a matter of fact, I think every other BSC team besides ISU and MSU is counting on 4 wins in conference this year.

Boise State is the worst team in Idaho right now.

In fact I think the best team in idaho is Albertson College.

Ahem...

I would have banked on a 30 point spread maybe. :D
