upcoming opponent on ESPNU, LBSU now handing it to #9 Pitt at Pitt,,,very athletic, quick team will create problems ala Duquesne did to us last March at home.

Long Beach State: Dan Monson has had a long road back to the point where he feels comfortable in the game. He left Gonzaga to try to rebuild Minnesota after NCAA violations. He wasn't able to turn that program around on a consistent basis. Now he's done that at Long Beach State. The 49ers were atop the Big West last season but didn't win the conference tournament. Long Beach will have to fend off Orlando Johnson and UC Santa Barbara again, but with Casper Ware and Larry Anderson, the 49ers should prevail. Long Beach has a monster nonconference schedule that could set up an at-large berth if it falls short in the Big West tourney. Long Beach will have the talent to win a game in March.

Looks like it's pretty much over. Long Beach State is up on #9 Pitt 86-76 with about 30 seconds to go. That's pretty damn impressive....

Good for LBSU. I wish we could get them later in the year. Our young guys are quick enough to play with them, but inexperience this early will hurt us against them. Cherry, Henderson, Gregory, Jamar are all quick enough to compete well against quick teams. Too bad Cherry is only guard with the experience. I wish I had seen some of Deshields against CSU, but no such luck.

I was also very surprised with Weisner's versatility, and his footwork was much better than I thought it would be. Weisner will make for a very good SF. He also is not afraid to take it to the paint. I have a very good feeling about Weisner. Once again, too young to know what to expect against a team like LBSU.
