The Beach crowd can be bad....The last time the Griz played there it was not pretty....LB had Seth Greenberg who quit later that year because of anti semitic slurs they shouted at him....not cool...

Time-out. I had a hard time believing this, so I did a google search. All I found were articles about anti-semitic treatment towards Greenberg in a game at New Mexico State. I really doubt the home crowd did anything similar, especially since he had a lot of success with Long Beach.

That's all I could find too. And it didn't look to be shouted at him so much as written on a "grease board."

LA, please advise.

49er, Selvig is a 7 foot forward, not a center. Very mobile. Shoots the 3 (leads the team in number of 3's made and percentage, 41%). Good ball handler and passer. 2nd on team in assists and steals. Was slowed by offseason foot surgery, but has been coming on lately.

Selvig is 2nd in 3 pt fg %, to Jamaar.

The Seth Greenberg incident was indeed in Las Cruces, and the remark was on a board in the visitor's locker room. Some feel that the incident was overly commented on, and that Seth may have used it as a motivational thing. I wasn't there to see it first hand, but have friends who have been close to the athletic program higher ups for years.

Looks like we're in for another fun non-league season next year. LB tenatively just added Kansas at Lawrence to the schedule along with North Carolina and SDSU road games and one of the big tournaments in Hawaii.

Selvig sounds like a fun person to watch play. Not many 7 footers play like that. We had one in the early 90s (Chris Tower) who shot the 3 well and made some great backdoor passes, and on a broken bone in his foot scored 20 against Illinois in the 1993 NCAAT's first round. That's a game that to this day frustrates us, because we were up 30-22 in the first half and about to control the game with uptempo BB when Seth inexpicably slows it down and lets plodding Illinois back into it and they win it by 3.

That sounds exactly like Selvig, even down to the Broken Bone. He has had his share of injury issues with his feet.

If you are interested in getting tickets, they have to be ordered directly from the host school. Their ticket office is not open until 10 am Pacific time until 5 pm PCT. Not sure yet if there will be an area for Griz fans to sit together. Once I talk to someone I would have a better idea.

Here is their online ordering...

Be prepared, their tickets are about double what ours are for a men's regular basketball game.

I was there...the LBSU did nothing to stop it other than ask the "students" to stop.....Seth moved on as a result...and achieved great success.....He had success there but, like most commuter schools, the fans are few and far between. Long Beach can at least turn out a reasonable crowd, because the Pyramid is a draw in itself...but, the crowds tht show might have little connection to the actual fan base.....

I admit shouted slurs are atypical of LB fans or anyone else, but I and others heard them. I go to the Beach games fairly often so I know the fans would not do it...but LB can attract others with nothing to do...it is all ancient history now, and brought up to show that the crowd can be nasty as any UM has faced...no doubt, the Griz will get their share but a win will silence them...I also think, that being so close to the Crenshaw area, there will be a few out to see and support Jamar...This, along with the appearance at pauley Pavillion and Fullerton can only help raise Montana recruiting efforts...especially if the Griz play the way the can...
