I was on their campus today. Very busy place. And their home, "The Pyramid" is big, blue and ugly from the outside. I know they were disappointed in last night's attendance. Looks like the game against us is sold out though.
I like the Pyramid...every seat inside is good, but it is not friendly to visitors...the Griz lost a game they should have won last time they were there....this is not going to be an easy game for UM....Fullerton might have beaten them but they are rival schools and much goes out the window...still, I like that Jamar is from Westchester, just up the freeway and will have family and friends there.... and thus, I think UM will pull out a close one....this is an ideal recruiting game in the area of America that is home to many players of exceptional talents! A win and it would be the 3rd SoCal win of the year down here! GO GRIZ!

Yeah, it can get busy with 36,000 students. Isn't that about how many people live in Montana? BTW, did you notice all the beautiful women?

The Pyramid is the most fan friendly building with the best sight lines. It has the perfect angle for watching basketball where you won't get blocked out even when people stand in front. If you go, you will see the pillars behind where it was supposed to be built out to around 8,000 capacity. Maybe after we beat you on national tv, it'll help our cause of getting it built sooner.

There's a lot of good places to hang out on 2nd St. Make sure to visit the Long Beach St. store too. You know you want to.

Here's the LB message board if you want to talk smack or read up on the team that'll be making you cry at about 10PM on Saturday. You can "Say hello to my little 16 seed friend" at about that time.

I see you all are very attractive models, based on your avatars. Odd, though, that your profiles all list you as males. What a crazy state CA is.

Here's the SDSU game report so you can get an idea of what the Pyramid is like. Hopefully, it should be as packed tomorrow. Come by the Beach Club and you can buy me a beer.

Also, here's the other Model T board and the BW Board.

Yeah, sorry. I didn't have my sock puppet handy when I was taking a picture for my avatar.

Long Beach State usually starts three guards and two forwards:

G - 6-1 Greg Plater
G - 6-5 Larry Anderson
G - 5-10 Casper Ware
F - 6-6 Eugene Phillips
F - 6-8 T.J. Robinson

Ware is a junior and leads the team with 16 ppg and 5 apg. Anderson averages 14.5 ppg and 3.6 apg. Robinson is next with 13.8 ppg and 10 rpg. They are a balanced team. Ware is pictured above.

I think that Dan Monson is an U of Idaho grad, & coached at Gonzaga and Minnesota. Monson's father was head coach of Idaho when they were nationally ranked in early-1980's, and was a Jud Heathcote assistant.

Long Beach State has played a difficult schedule, with San Diego State, Clemson, U of Washington, Utah State, U of North Carolina, St. Mary's, and Arizona State being some of their nonconference losses.

LONG BEACH - What was expected to be a showdown between two of the top guards in the Big West Conference turned into a blowout early. Long Beach State, led by Casper Ware's 17 points and four three-pointers, rolled to a 68-55 victory over UC Riverside in a game that wasn't as close as the final score.

UCR senior guard Javon Borum did his part, scoring 13 points and Phil Martin added 19, but the rest of the Highlanders offense struggled for a third straight game and the defense couldn't contain the conference leaders in the first half. Long Beach led 43-24 at the intermission. "They played at a faster speed than we did," Highlanders coach Jim Wooldridge said, noting the importance of the first five minutes of the game. "We have to make a stand." The loss is the third straight for UCR. With just four conference games remaining, the Highlanders will need a strong finish to keep out of the Big West cellar and make the conference tournament.

After playing a nonconference BracketBuster game Saturday at Fresno State, UCR concludes the regular season with four games at home -- against Pacific, UC Davis, Long Beach and UC Irvine. "That's the big picture," Wooldridge said of finishing strong to make the conference tournament. "It is the picture." Wednesday night, however, UCR had no answers for the 49ers, who moved a game closer to the Big West title and the tournament's top seed. Ware, a strong candidate for player of the year, did the damage outside, and Larry Anderson did the work inside with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The 49ers (16-10, 11-2 Big West) were not as sharp in the second half, hitting just six of 22 shots (27 percent), but they maintained their early lead and controlled the boards.

Wow. That LBSU board is kind of a joke. Seriously, what are there, 4 posters? I think the Northern Colorado board has more.

didn't see this posted already

BracketBusters weekend is here and there's something for everyone who enjoys the mid-major level. Five of the games have significant NCAA tournament implications and many of them feature a star (or stars) well worth watching. Here are the 11 TV games ranked in order of importance and intrigue.

10. Montana (17-7, 11-3 Big Sky) at Long Beach State (14-10, 11-2 Big West)Saturday, 11 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Why to watch: Because after 12 hours of college hoops, there's nothing better to do on a Saturday night than watch Big Sky and Big West leaders clash. Also to see if Long Beach breaks out its flu bubbles. Also for the fun of Utah State fans rooting for The Beach to stay in the RPI top-100.

Who to watch: Montana big man Brian Qvale is just shy of the team lead in scoring and grabs almost nine boards a game, to boot. Long Beach will respond with the explosive backcourt of Casper Ware and Larry Anderson, the team's two leading scorers and assist men, and undersized-but-rugged rebounder T.J. Robinson.

What to expect: The Beach is a poor defensive team and Montana defends well enough to win on the road. The Grizzlies already went to the L.A. area once and won (at UCLA). Why not twice?

For those that don't have espn2, will this be available on BSTV? Just curious. Thanks.

Go Griz!

Maul'em!

I'm guessing it wont be on BSTV. If it's not, check some of the streaming sites like atdhenet.tv, channelsurf.eu, myp2p.eu and justin.tv The "justin.tv" has a user streaming espn2 right now. Hopefully there will be one when the Griz play tomorrow.

Hmm. Actually, Montana has gone to the LA area twice and won. But really, who's counting?

Umm, going to LA and beating UCLA counts as winning once. Going to the Skid Row free clinic to have your crabs taken care of does not count as a win. Don't get me wrong, it is a good thing for you and I'm glad you got it taken care of but still doesn't count for a win.

P.S. I love the new floor you guys are planning on.

Yeah, we saw the floor, since you're the only one posting on that site. Oh, and might I add: what an original and hilarious smack idea as well.....

The many years of smog inhalation has done substantial and irreparable damage to your brain hasn't it, Dave?

Well, you have to understand Long Beach State....firstly, the large enrollment together reflects one of the largest pools of those kids who did not qualify for any of the UCs, and it is basically a commuter school on the outer fringe of a changing barrio nee ghetto....While the Pyramid is a good venue, the team reflects the school....I am always surprised that in spite of being such an also ran in California, they get a fair turnout and pretty good support locally....Long Beach is sorta the crazy aunt in the basement of LA....there is a good Spanish restaurant there, though...oh, and the Aquarium is pretty good.

Montana (19-7, 11-3 Big Sky) at Long Beach State (16-10, 11-2 Big West), ESPN2, 11 p.m.

The last time Montana came to SoCal, it knocked off UCLA 66-57 at Pauley Pavilion in December. Brian Qvale and Derek Selvig are the main reasons why the Grizzlies top the Big Sky standings. Add one of the best pickpockets in college basketball with Will Cherry (2.78 spg) and you give yourself a pretty good chance to win just about anywhere.

Dan Monson won at Gonzaga, but then was tempted by the money and prestige of the Big Ten and Minnesota. It didn't work out, and he now resides in Long Beach as the head man for the 49ers. Monson can coach, and so could his dad. He is a better fit at this level, and his team is a better fit for him. There are a lot of advantages at Long Beach, including the nice weather and a winnable Big West conference. The 49ers are a skilled offensive team, which is led by Casper Ware. I like Ware, but the Grizzlies have a huge size advantage. Montana will get another win in balmy SoCal.

Even ESPN pick the griz. Sorry if it's been posted.

You guys are gullible. Next thing you know, you'll be telling us how Snoop Dog sells buds in the Pyramid bathrooms.

Lets compare apples to apples.

As the only regional university on the list, CSULB(LBSU would look much better) received 45,771 applications, ranking No. 5 out of 1,339 schools that reported data. First on the list was UCLA (55,708); St John's University was No. 2 (52,980); UC Berkeley was No. 3 (46,650); UC San Diego was No. 4 (47,046).

You guys are too easy. It's not even any fun. I guess you don't get much smack talk practice with Weber St. and BYU-Idaho so I'll be nice.

So good luck to you tomorrow and the rest of the season. I know you guys will be a tough team to play and I hope our guys are up to the task. I know the best team will win. Ok, is that better? I think I bored myself to sleep so I'll say good night.

Did you really just use Yelp to compare universities??

I think I'm beginning to see why you're the only one who posts on your board.... :o
