Little League World Series - MT vs. SD Game - Billings Wins!

I manage an office of people in Billings, I've never been so happy to see lost productivity in my life. Everyone was sitting on springs taking turns to run to the breakroom and check out ESPN to see how the little guys were doing. Very cool....way to go kids!!!!......even though they're from Billings, scoreboard says MONTANA....

"Mark Sulser is juggling sports right now. The coach of the Senior High football team, he flew out to Williamsport, Pa., on Wednesday to watch his son play in the Little League World Series.

I've seen the same thing in western ND. The western Dakotans seem to consider themselves "westerners" and the eastern Dakotans "midwesterners." Culturely, big difference. Maybe not as profound as S. and N. CA, but obvious nevertheless.

The divide is very distinct in South Dakota. There is West River (west of the Missouri) and East River. They may as well be different states. With SDSU and USD both East River, I don't think many folks in the west feel much of a connection to either. I see about as much Griz gear being worn around here as I do Jacks or Coyotes gear. I've heard it suggested that North and South Dakota should have actually been split into West and East Dakota.

First congrats to the Billings, Montana in winning their first World Series game. I'm a wee bit more proud the rest of you blokes as a good share of the players are from my old elementary school - Rose Park.

Now for dividing the Dakotas and other central states - Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. All of them have the 100th Meridian running through them. Conditions East of the Meridian get more rain and thus a wetter environment. In Texas and Oklahoma they call this the green country. West of the Meridian gets less rain and is semi-arid. Because these states really are different so splitting along the 100th Meridian kind of makes sense.

OK, end of the geography lesson. Before you leave I'm still waiting on term papers from some of you. :)

Watched the game in the Seattle airport today. It was really awesome. Everybody in the bar was cheering for them. The 1st basemen made a diving catch that should have been a Sports Center Top 10 play. Really doing Montana proud!
