Little Brother Ain't So LIttle...

MSU had a kid named C.J. Palmer a few years ago this kid reminds me of about the same time they got Apkla from Oregon--I think. He's not as fast as Hilliard was though, is he?

High risk with no reward for litter box nation.

Agree to disagree on his one. I think it’s the exact opposite. What is the risk? And the reward could be huge. Maybe this guy doesn’t ever see the field for the Cats, but he has the possibility to be an absolute force at this level, especially paired with the potential Cal transfer and some of the other RB’s already on the roster.

You don’t get Big Ten all freshmen team as a true freshmen if you can’t play the game.

To automatically bash this one the second you hear about it and say he’ll more than likely fizzle out sounds like there is some nervousness there on your end. This guy fits exactly what Choate is trying to do in Bozeman.

Nope. Review cat stats on drop-downs recently. Not good? That's what I thought. High risk.

Because all drop-drowns are created equal. Other than the two dingbats...we actually had a drop down corner from Colorado (John Walker) make All Big Sky in 2016.

There was that one guy who charged a cop from a naked three-point stance. I don't care if he ever saw the field at Bozeman State, that was impressive, and has to count as a successful drop down.

So... looks like some griz fans pointed out some recent successes for you.
And regardless if he’s a success or not, it’s not high risk. There is no risk. If he plays and does well, great. If he can’t cut it, then he won’t play, just like any other player. No risk.

I think the risk of a drop down player is more than just on the field.....I assume you know that, but the Xanax in your system has dulled your senses.

There's always a risk. And I'm not talking about character. The risk with dropdowns is, they are almost ALWAYS full-ride guys. If he is a non-factor and just "on the team" for the next three years, it's a schollie they can't give to someone else. Not saying that will be the case with Natee. But, that is the inherit risk at the FCS level. Dropdowns soak up schollie money that could be broken up into many partials, or used to bump producing walkons up to deserved scholarship money. From FBS to FCS that is THE RISK.

I would say the other risk with the Cats' recruiting class right now is too many quarterbacks. I don't see Murray losing his job, no matter how amazing the juco kid looks, and he does look amazing. Then they have Rovig has already been annointed, and Baumann who has also been annointed by Cat fans. I don't see it working out for at least two of those four, and, where the Cats stand today, I don't think Chris Murray is the one that it won't work out for. And, MSU fans are very, very naive if they think Murray is going to voluntarily switch positions to make things "comfortable" for everybody else.

And, MSU fans are very, very naive if they think Murray is going to voluntarily switch positions to make things "comfortable" for everybody else.

It is very simple in my mind. Chris needed competition this spring and not just from Tucker Rovig. If he doesn't beat out Jonsen, he basically has two options: move to a RB/WR role or transfer. However, if Jonsen wins the starting QB job, Murray can move into the same role Troy played for MSU's offense last year which will in effect move Andersen full-time to linebacker. As far as Tucker Rovig, he will be a redshirt freshman next year. In a perfect world, he and Casey Baumann will compete for the starting job in 2020 (Tucker's junior year and Casey's sophomore). Now things could definitely change in the future with whoever wins the QB job but the major thing Choate has built is depth at the QB position. I'm going to remind you guys that last spring, Chris Murray was competing with no one at QB. That situation can't happen going forward. The Griz know better than anyone over the past three years that having QB depth is vital to a program as Gresch Jensen damn near saved the season last year.
