listening to the audio stream

how many out there have been stuck with the audio stream for the last two games? i've never been a big fan of holien, but his calls of the action are getting ridiculous. he and guernsey (sp) sound like a couple of guys who are tailgating while pointing out a play or two of the game every now and again - with the latter filling in the blanks from time to time (thank goodness). holien rarely bothers to describe the action like other announcers do - when somebody catches a pass, you never know who it is, where on the field they are, or even which team they play for. h;: "he throws the ball. he's running down the field toward the hash mark! boy what a grab." g: "that was cam warren who caught that pass on the forty and then gained two more yards." h: "ole's hot dogs. he's got the ball! nice juke! the defense had it sniffed out though. it will be third and ten" g: "jordon johnson took the snap and avoided the first defender but was sacked by the second for a loss of ten. it will be second down and 19" etc etc etc

it has long since passed the time for someone new to call the games. want an example? watch and listen to the highlights on gogriz.com

I agree their play by play is lacking sometimes and it can be difficult to follow whats happening. I am looking forward to this weekend and american one video.

I agree it is almost impossible to tell what is going on in a game from listening to the radio, almost like having 2 color guys and no pbp. You almost have to chart out the plays, like keeping a scorecard in baseball. Also not sure if this happens when streaming, but often when listening to the radio it just periodically goes to dead air, and when it comes back a few minutes later you have no idea what is going on with the game.

Holien reminds me of Dave Niehaus at the end of his career. Loved by the fans so they overlook his rarely getting things right, and always ready with the signature catchphrase.

just my opinion, but I like listening to the radio broadcast. when BSTV is the video option I usually choose the radio instead. to me Mick and Scott are sort of the sound track of Griz football and I enjoy listening to them.

Just my opinion, feel free to, disagree.

that's just because you can't afford cable for your big screen, thanks to major major being so far behind on the alimony. geez.

When you are able to watch the game listening to the radio broadcast and watching on you own is fine. But if all you have is what these guys say... They don't do a good job with play by play and players making plays. They like to watch and if it is a tense game there is usually a silence during plays and then a hasty what just happened.

Mick can stay the voice of the Griz for as long AS HE CHOOSES!! PERIOD..THE END..DOM'T LIKE IT DON'T LISTEN..
You are right, UM admin will never push Mick out. KGVO tried about 10 years ago to put Shwanke back in charge but Mick is tight with UM and they nixed the change. And I agree, it is always the best business philosophy that when your customers tell you that things are not right, the best thing to do is to tell them to go away instead of listening to them objectively. It works every time - the disgrunteled customers do go away. Glad you are in charge havgirzfan, the future is bright with guys like you running the show.

I love Mick and Gurns and wouldn't trade them for anyone. :twocents:
Plus Mick says my two favorite words like nobody else can; “Touchdown Montana”.

Also this.

argh! Sadly, regrettably I had to sell the big screen at a tag sale. But I honestly don't mind the picture on my 7 inch black and white tv set as long as Mick and Guernsey (I can't spell it either) are in my ear. ;)

It's not like I don't enjoy their coverage, but a little more enthusiasm might help. Like maybe UNICORNS! SHOW PONIES!!!
I hate Brady, but these guys got that TD call down:

Well that is kind of gross. You must have a Lust for Life.

Mick had a rough summer health wise. He was still rehabbing just a few weeks before the start of the season. I won't go into details because anyone can go follow him on Facebook and read about it in his own words.

I wish Mick well and if he is thinking of hanging it up I hope he sticks it out for Grizzly football for awhile but maybe cut back calling Griz BB. The travel schedule for BB must get tiresome. Either way I hope he stays on as long as he still enjoys it and is able too. I still enjoy listening to him and Gurnsey.
