Link to Presser?

He also said it's ridiculous for these reporters to quote "sources" and use the word sources because he said Half the time they aren't true and that if you want the source it needs to be directly from Stitt. He was pissed. i'd say Colter has some explaining to do

There is zero reason to give Colter access. If I was Stitt, I would not. None. AJ, Kaimin and others do well for us. Colter's coverage of the Big Sky wit large...without the Griz...is like no coverage at all.

Agree 100%.

Interesting. Stitt bashers know athletes on scholarship will be held accountable academically, but say Stitt can't hold them athletically accountable.
Who has said this?

Seriously?

Who?

Welcome to the FCS, Coach Stitt. It's a little different here. There's a professional and thoughtful way of handling these things. Just as I was critical of how MSU handled Coach Ash, I'm critical of this and the attitude at the presser. If you won't communicate with the "press," it's your fault if they have to rely on "sources."

What did Stitt do thats not proffessional? Cut some kids??? We brought him here to WIN FOOTBALL GAMES....not take care of kids feelings. We could have a guy like Ash that just doesnt hurt anyones feelings....is wishy washy on all decisions..and guess what...we'd be .500 every year! I love Stitts approach!

Actually, Ash was more like a .700 coach throughout his career. Stitt is more like a .600 coach based on his career. What did you guys end up, 8-5? Seems about like what you can expect from here on out. .700 wasn't good enough for the CATS according to fields so he made a change, hopefully an upgrade. How long before Stitt gets the boot over there?

8-5 from here on out huh?? I'll take that and a 2nd round exit to the 4x national champs as a first year coach....im thinking more 11-14 win seasons are in our future....even if it this season was what we should expect a "lot of in our future"...itd still be better than anything the Cats have produced for a long long time.

Now get back over to your dumpster fire program..with brand new coach...no coaching staff in place...and losing your all world QB....i think things are looking a little brighter on our side bud.

He didn't talk about the player cuts and later in the press conference only made a statement about how players need to earn their scholarship every year and can't coast. That isn't bashing any particular player or set of players. It's making a statement that everyone knows but may need a reminder of from time to time. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Well, a well-designed press conference can do that. Pretending that this one had that purpose by adding it as a tail end to a press conference obviously designed to allow him to "vent" at the "misinformation" that is his own d*** fault has ... a different effect.

A petulant Bobby Hauck didn't really do any favors for anybody by throwing tantrums at the press. It made him appear petty and jejune. Holding a press conference to throw a similar public tantrum, and then trying to justify it as an appeal to ... recruiting?

Seriously?

Why are you such a little bitch??? I wish Stitt could cut you!

I suppose I could answer "because I'm not an ass-kisser like you" but what's the point? My point is not to make a personal dispute with you about anything. Nor did I dispute Stitt cutting anybody or the timing of it. My sole point is that, just as I felt that MSU mishandled the termination of Ash, Stitt mishandled the termination of two players, and did so in a fashion guaranteed to invite negative speculation and misinformation and in such a way that even a respected former Griz player complained.

I pointed out that there is a better way to handle these things, and that's to do it with some grace, wish the kids well, give them a few compliments, and let everyone that supports the program know about it so that social media does not take over and do exactly what happened here.

What part of that do you object to?

UM75, I don't object to much of what you said, except the "respected former Griz player" complaining part. Name him, or just leave him out of it all together.

Forgive me if you have already posted this, but just how exactly would you have handled it? From square one? I don't think there is anyway this could have gone down where Stitt wasn't chastised by many. I'm not saying it was pretty, but I don't think there is any way this could have happened without a bunch of peoples feelers getting hurt.

With that said, best of luck to the young student athletes. Hopefully this turns out to be a good thing for you down the road.

My initial post was this:
I wasn't complaining about the speed or the timing, but obviously information started dribbling out, the SID said a couple of things, some rumors got out there about a couple of players that weren't true, which likely caused some consternation among the players, a couple of coaches issued corrections on their own -- all the kinds of things that happen in this day and age because of social media.

Because this is a different day and a different era, things of this sort need to be controlled and organized; let the affected kids know and issue a press release so there is no second-guessing. Shut down the rumor mill before it starts and, by all means, do it graciously. Thank these kids, say some good things about them as players and people, and don't issue odd statements about "chemistry" for some and nothing about others.
From that arose the charge that I was "a little bitch" because for some, asking for a little class and giving young athletes some credit and courtesy is just too much of a burden on the way to The Championship. But, that's just not my idea of collegiate sports.

I did. His name is on the tweet I posted, or rather, the public tweet he posted.

Sorry for the name calling and I see where you are coming from but again, I think Stitt would be criticized just the same for handling it differently. Maybe not by you, but by others.

Idk how I'm an ass kisser?? I just support Stitt and I like the way he does things.....It seams like some false reporting and reporters getting the wrong info was to blame for this whole thing. I dont think it was Stitts fault. Even he said that he hadn't had the opportunity to speak with some of those kids yet. I just dont see how thats his fault.

bewildered, you beat me to it. Big assumption by 75 to know exactly what Harris was talking about. Though, I'm sure he does have a lot of loyalty to Chris Parker, which I completely understand. I'm honestly way more surprised about Parker being let go than Pflug. Way more.

In terms of "timing," it surely must be a good idea, if you're going to do it, to do it as soon as practicable. On the other hand, doing it just before the start of Finals Week ... wouldn't have done it that way. These are still kids in many ways, and putting as much pressure on their final semester measure of academic success as possible is ... well, I just wouldn't have done it that way.

Here it is again:
[tweet]https://twitter.com/DB_Griz11/status/674302412383891456[/tweet]

This could be interpreted more than one way.
There is a context. The tweet follows one by Brint Wahlberg commenting that cuts can be brutal, and a tweet by Shaun Rainey that Pflug and Parker had been let go.

But how do you know he's talking about Stitt? How do you know he's not mad about the fact that people were putting the kids names out on Twitter? Do you have proof he was talking about Stitt?

Nobody will even be talking about this if we go 10-2 and win the big sky....everyone will be saying hes a genius for clearing space and bringing in contributors.

He doesn't, but it sure is easier for his narrative that Stitt is just a bumbling fool who's ruining our players' lives.
