Linebacker Rankings for the Big Sky

I'm not one to think that Rachac is biased but ranking Owens #1 is a joke in my book. He was non-existant (and in fact got burned several times) in the few games i witnessed. And in the big games, he really seems to pee his pants, but i guess that is consistent with their M.O. I don't think he'd even start at UM (mainly because i don't see him as a Mike, or much better than Stu or Coyle; he's certainly not better that Tripp or JP). Gross, if healthy, may be better than Stu/Coyle at run support but probably not pass support.
My top 5 would be: Bumpas, Tripp, Johnson, JP, and then Morales.

Owens, Grousulak and Na'a are all better LB's than Tripp, and you guys aren't even aware of Singlton who will likely be on the post season All BSC list

Doesn't matter. Last year the Griz had ONE player on the preseason AA list. We still kicked sCat ass.

Yet somehow managed to put 5 into the NFL.

Jody Owens is good but I think Grousalak is the best Cat LB when healthy. Tripp looked phenomenal in the spring and could be an All-American, so could Kanangata. He was so good vs MSU last year. Not saying they will both be, but I believe both have the potential to be.

I was suprised Jody Owens was the preseason Defensive Player of the Year. I thought it should have been Zach Minter from MSU. Owens is very athletic and gets a ton of tackles but don't feel like he's a guy you really have to Gameplan around. Minter on the other hand is a guy who can single handidly wreck an offense.

The advantage for the Griz is that their great linebackers get to play with each other. If you are a great player it makes you so much better having another great player right next to you. Tripp and konangata together will be better than both of them apart.

Heard that the voting was very close between them

Yeah, I am honestly surprised it wasn't Minter. He jumps off the screen at me every time I watch him. And I hate complimenting Cat players.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Typical over-hyping of Cat players. These guys routinely disappear in big games, such as Chadron State.

Yeah all these players listed played against Chadron State.

I agree, Singleton is the one to watch out for.

Alex Singleton should be a good player, but he needs time to adjust. Don't think the cats should have used Singletons red-shirt for just special teams. Grousulak will be out for the first couple of games had surgery during the spring semester which will allow Alex to get some real game time experience at MLB. If Grousulak can get healthy should be a good competition between the two. But to say Grousulak is better than tripp doesn't make any sense. We are talking about two different linebacker positions with different responsibilities. It is like saying Jordan Tripp is a better linebacker than Caleb McSurdy. Tripp couldn’t play MLB just like McSurdy couldn’t play outside. Same goes with Tripp/J.P and Grousulak. Stuberg will surprise a lot of people with ability to play run, blitz as well as turning his hips to get into coverage. Now Addison Owen has potential but has not proved anything yet just like singleton. I think Owen will contribute a lot on special but playing wise he will rotate some. Coyle is most likely number one backer coming in as well as 3-4 backer. Don’t forget Lebsock was moved to LB so even more competition for Owens.
