Line up and sound off Chicken Littles

No way a new troll starts a thread that goes 7 pages. Oh, wait. Carry on.........
There are 'Hire Hauck' threads I haven't read yet.

By way of update, I'm simply floored by the outpouring of support from Purple Mermaid Nation in these times. My entire staff thanks you. Yes, the coaches read these forums. While I can't disagree with anything that has been posted, nor compare to Ms. Hauck and Nana Delaney (who righted the ship), I will say that our girls will be back to work at Wednesday's practice going hard for 45 minutes to get better. Those who attended the PTA meeting tonight were privy to our practice and game plans. We've seen some very positive things in the last two weeks, and we will continue to build what we believe will be a very successful season.

Quick Kicks - Purple Mermaids Excel On and Off the Pitch

--Our starting forward received a perfect score on her Letters and Numbers (LN) test this Monday at Kindergarten. She received a "Super You" from the administration for excellence in academics.

--Our right midfielder tried some calamari for the first time on Sunday at the Lazy Dog Cafe. Her Parents were reportedly thrilled that she was brave enough to try new foods. She got popcorn at home and got to stay up until 8:30.

--Our four-year-old reserve striker was a good listener at free play time, and got to go to the prestigious Treasure Chest at preschool, where she acquired a new Shimmer and Shine genie toy. She's definitely one to watch for.

Injury Report

--P-Merm fans will breathe a sigh of relief to learn that Desirae's foot ouchie from last week's game was a fake-out. She admitted she saw her younger sister getting to watch Peppa Pig on the sidelines from her mom's phone and, understandably, wanted a piece of the action. Precautionary x-rays were negative. I've instituted a No Phone policy at practices and games to curb such occurrences.

Big game this Saturday. Our players and staff can feel your support.

Yes. Two years' worth of lousy STs. I know he coaches the LBs also. I'm not sure they are well coached this year either. I think they are talented athletes...I'll just leave it at that.

The lbs are very talented but poorly coached, and it's obvious. Watching them play zone defense is painful. They look lost, and don't sense when a receiver has entered their zones. I watched 2-3 plays on one drive where strahm was in the right place, but was burned by a receiver who got behind him

I can't disagree. Strahm had a lot of tackles, but his pass coverage was abysmal. He seems completely out of his element in pass coverage. Something needs to change their folks.

The wheel route TD was Banks not Strahm. And if you watched any of the first three games, Vika was completely overmatched in pass coverage. I'm sorry but Vika isn't even CLOSE to what Strahm can do on the field right now. He'll get there, but not this season.

Don't think anyone got on Banks for the play either, as they hadn't seen it on tape and weren't prepared for it (and the coaches knew that). It was a terrific play and call into the particular Griz D. Not going to comment on Strahm's pass defense in the game (because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings), but he is a very good pass defender for a middle backer.

Honestly, if you believe the recruiting hype (which I do) - then it is possible a new coach running a similar offense would inherit a version of a cadillac. I'm not FOR it btw.

But, the staff as it exists TODAY is less then stellar. Extension or not - Stitt has to make changes IMO. I'd start with replacing 2 on the defensive side of the ball.

Agreed, unless we see significant improvement between now and the end of the year. 5 games to show us what he's got/learned. I assume the other one you're talking about is the ST coach?

Can you educate us some more about how linebackers should play zone? Assume you realize that backer responsibilities vary considerably in different types of zones. Could you lay that out for us. I need a refresher, as a matter of fact.

Great post Coach CDA.

Again, not to beat a dead mermaid, but these are two more reasons why I fully support Coach CDA. Did we ever get that kind of openness and honesty from Ms Hauck? Hell, with her you never knew the team's injury status until pre-game orange slices were handed out. And how about those off the field accomplishments? Truly building something to be proud of here at Douglass

It is obvious the guy can't coach well enough to be retained if Stitt has and brain

This ought to keep the sugarcoaters happy for another week. You'll notice the "little genius" didn't say a word about the Bombers putting up 4 goals against the Merms. Or about his Defensive Coordinator, Ms. Celess. When was the last time a Bombers team put up 4 on the Merms? If Coach CDA had half a brain he'd tell her to go back to slicing apple wedges for the games.

Another thing I heard from an OC U6 Coordinator is that apparently 5 year old McCalla Weeks had received 2 timeouts last week for taking two milks in the lunch line and refusing to be quiet during nap time. Is this type of behavior what we should expect from senior leadership? She also started last week against the Bombers. So much for running a clean program, Coach CDA!

My administrator friend tells me that Coach CDA is on an extremely short leash and has been told that if he doesn't beat the Golden Kitties and make the playoffs, he's gone.

My administrator friend also told me some concerning information on team chemistry and a potential schism growing between 4 year olds vs 5 year olds on the team. I can't get into details but trust me, this team is divided.

Not sure what it's going to take for some of you fanboys to realize that CDA is in way over his head.

Yeah, good luck with that, Ursa. The fanboys have settled for mediocrity in the program and are now content to award participation trophies. Meanwhile, CDA is settling for players that give less than 110%. And how many players on the roster are Montana kids? How many are from strong families? That's what I thought.

Great points all. What I’m concerned about is what color hat he wears during the game?

Is it true the merms have already won more games then last year, playing better defense and closing in on post season however some parents still want the coach out?? heard their penalty kicks are much better also!

The P-Merms closed very strongly over the last few games to finish 7-2. The final game was a coaching masterpiece with respect to substitutions. I ended up subbing in our star forward with just seconds left in standard time, and she gave a tremendous assist to a four-year-old with an open net to score her very first goal of her life to win the match. A star was born, and great things are coming our way.

Offense, defense, and penalty kicks have drastically increased in quality over last season. Additionally, with the maturation of the team as a whole, we have seen far fewer behavioral issues. People need to realize that this is a very young squad.

We had the booster's meeting/end of year party at Chuck-E-Cheese's last Thursday. Many boosters and parents were upset that I decided to hand out only three trophies: (1) MVP; (2) Most Improved; and (3) Most Outstanding Newcomer. The fact of the matter is the trophy winners earned them on the pitch. However, those who did not receive trophies just happened to be the ones who missed multiple practices and optional Sunday morning workouts. I refuse to believe the two things are unrelated. This is OC U6 Soccer! If the parents don't like the commitment that comes with it, enroll your kid in Schoolyard League, brother.

You all know who you are, don’t make me sift through the game thread to round you all up! You have been wishing for the staff and team to fail, and you know it, I know it, everyone on here knows it. So just come forward and say, Go Griz!
Get back to me when he wins a big game. If we win at MSU and a game in the playoffs i will give it due credit.

The kids these days are soft. When I was "coaching" soccer, I awarded only one trophy: "Most red cards."

"Most yellow cards" winners got a juice box and some Twizzlers.

I have griped and will continue to gripe about defense. I said in the other thread that it's unfortunate for the offense that their great showing today is overshadowed to some extent by the defensive ineptitude on display every Saturday. It's nice that the defense got a couple of key stops at important points in the game, but still gave up over 500yds and 30 points. The team can't count on out scoring everyone

Something tells me that “due credit” will be be just a back handed compliment. Gotta feel for the mermaids, such a nurturing environment.
