.... seriously? Gorgeous Montana late summer afternoon, and the damn lights are on. Could have payed for half a scholarship (or some of those recently increasing attorney fees) with all that energy.
You signed up just for this abortion of a post?
... It has taken me ten months to figure this website out.

You must be riding the short bus...remember stranger-danger and take a buddy.

Electrician that installed them says $25/game in electricity. Less since they weren't all on.
I'm no electrician, but that sounds ridiculously low to me. $25/light sounds closer to the truth. These have to be incredibly efficient lights. The total wattage must be enormous; then, there's the cost/watt or whatever the measure is. Maybe someone with electrical knowledge can elucidate (pun not intended).

If you do the math....assuming about 10c/kwh, then the lights when fully on consume 83kw. That's a lot of lights :) 83kw of lights at 10c/kwh would cost about $25 for 3 hours. I'm just using ballpark figures to give an estimate since I don't have the exact numbers. When I see Bob, the electrician that told me that, I'll ask him the particulars so it all fits.

Lights help out with the television broadcast. Clearer/crisper picture, if I understand correctly, plus it helps negate the large shadows that happen at times.

A quality camera crew and equipment can have the same effect.

I don't think Max media had either. The camera work was pretty poor yesterday, and they couldn't quite get their brightness/contrast settings figured out either.

I was wondering at the beginning of the game why the lights were on and someone suggested that it may have been due to potential smoke haze on the field. That may have been presumed at the beginning of the day but smoke did not prove to be a big issue.

Bah! What a bunch of crap! I know for a fact that several of Max Media's camera ops are ESPN vets. I saw several excellent isos during the game, like when Long Hair Starr smacked McKinney and almost knocked him out of the game. Lights: I'm no expert, but what if the game went into double OT? It takes a little while for the lights to power up, the hot dog concession profit could probably cover the cost overrun. You'd rather have KPAX/Hermes doing the game?

.........you must be kidding. We're in largely unknown, unheard of Missoula, Mont., with 2 football teams who play on the fringes of the north forty of college football and you're sniveling about that TV production? Damn fortunate to have it on TV.

We have less media coverage that last year based on the limited streaming opportunities this year. Seems like a step backwards to me.

I thought UM was a "green" campus. Can anyone in the AD's office give some FACTS as to why they were on yesterday.
