Our entire staff is very well paid especially for the FCS level. And with all of the major college & NFL experience, they rightfully expect to be compensated as such. We have been investing heavily in facilities and staffing to prepare us for the next level.

If you have questions about where the money comes from to fund our program, we don't rely on donations generally speaking. We do have some deep-pocketed folks who have invested heavily in the program. But our school is in amazing financial health primarily because we were one of the pioneers of distance education and we now have close to 70k active online students pouring funds into the school. Just 6-7 years ago when we were in the red. Today we are in the middle of a $250M campus makeover including a gorgeous new baseball yard. The next phase of our stadium expansion is expected to begin much sooner than later. we're pretty jazzed about how blessed we have been financially in recent years at a time when the economy has been so hard on other schools.
As I was reading I was just hoping you could get through your post without using the word, blessed. What is it with you fundamentalist Christians and that word? Kind of like a secret handshake thing I suppose.
It's a good accurate word.
It seems to hold water?

Oh...and Chuck Norris couldn't tackle DM, unless he was properly trained by JCU of course....

You're right. Blessed is a good, accurate word when used responsibly. Seriously, I'm a big First Amendment guy on religion, and I mean all of them. But you have to deal with the fact that the founder of Liberty, Jerry Falwell, was one bigoted moron.

So uh... it's up: http://egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58707" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not a fan of Falwell, by any means. But let's not overlook the fact that the founders, major benefactors, namesakes, etc. of some of our most prestigious "old time" institutions of higher learning (Ivy League included, obviously) were religious "enthusiasts" (detractors would say fanatics), business profiteers, corrupt politicians, and worst. (I won't single any school out, but -- trust me -- I can back up that assertion with facts if anyone questions the notion.) While perhaps not "world class," Liberty receives quite respectable rankings as an academic institution. So let's just eliminate that aspect from this discussion.

Is the Liberty football team any good? That is the question. We'll find out, but they have certainly made a lot of progress over the last few years.

We use blessed to indicate it is something good they we don't deserve on our own. We try to place the focus on God and not us.

And to the poster above who brought up the parable of the camel and the rich man, I can appreciate your perspective. We Liberty folks get just as nauseated at the prosperity preachers as you guys. But just so you'll know, the Falwells have had money in Virginia dating back to their bootlegging days. Even in our current financial state, we are careful with how the money is used.

Best of luck to Liberty this Saturday, but we are hoping for a convincing win after losing to App State.

And now we've come full circle! haha - this thread is great. I'll have the scouting report up probably between 10 and 11 tonight.

God, we cannot stifle our unbridled enthusiasm! Make sure that Delaney gets a copy of it, so he can prepare the team for the game.

Question for Growler, what makes your opinions about football and the Griz any more valid than Brint? Actually, why should anyone really gives a $hit about anything you post?

Because he apparently coached middle schoolers back in the 70s.

Dan Moore shits little Chuck Norris figurines.

And when he's done he doesn't flush the toilet, he scares the shit out of it.

Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked Dan Moore in the head. Knocked the gum out of his mouth. Pissed him off!

I hope the Griz hang 100 points on Liberty. They'll be good though ... they almost beat Wake Forest.

They may have changed, but the last time they were in Boone (@ 5 yrs. ago), I recall they were down by @ 30 & were taunting our players. I got no use for that crap.

The last time the Flames faced the Mountaineers was 10 years ago in Lynchburg when App won 29-22. The year before in 2001, ASU smoked us in the season opener.

Your representation of us taunting down 30 doesn't sound much like our squad at all. Based on your apparent hazy memory I am going to assume that you probably confused us with some other school over the course of the past 10-15 years.

And since just about every FBS scenario for either ASU or LU involves us being involved together, there will likely be plenty more opportunities to discuss the nature of our teams' encounters.

This has been the most GOD fearing scouting report I have ever read. And I am 98 years old.

Liberty? Do they pass, kick or run away?
