Liberty Flames

Wake Forest is not the poops as mentioned by some well versed fellow. I think we need to prepare for a good football team in Liberty.

Sounds like Liberty is legit - should be a great game.
While the Big South is not considered an FCS "power" conference, the Flames have been near the top there for awhile, and are expected to contend this year. Plus, they have a fine coach ... so, no cupcake.

Speaking of their coach ... let's all (regardless of religious affiliation, or lack thereof) cool it here. Some late-breaking news:

Flames' Gill takes bereavement leave
The Liberty University football team will do most of its preparation for Saturday's home opener against Norfolk State without its new head coach, Turner Gill.

Gill's mother, 75-year-old Hattie Gill, died unexpectedly on Sunday. Gill has taken a bereavement leave to return to his family's home in Fort Worth, Texas. He departed this morning and is expected to rejoin the Flames in time to coach Saturday's 7 p.m. game against the Spartans.

Gill described his mother as "an authentic follower of Jesus Christ" in a statement released Monday by Liberty's athletic department. Said Gill: "Our family knows that we will see her in heaven."

Assistant head coach Carl Torbush and defensive coordinator Robert Wimberly will handle the head coach's responsibilities, as well as their own, in Gill's absence.
I'm sure I speak for all of eGriz in extending are heart-felt sympathy to Coach Gill ... and his personal and Liberty "family."

Classy. thanks man. Coach is a very classy guy and I definately feel for him and his family and am praying.

It is kind of awesome though that he put together such a strong staff that he can turn over the team to former UNC HC Carl Torbush. He took care of the presser today and is running practice, etc. We should be good as coach will be back late week in time for the NST game.

We have much forest fire smoke in the air right now. Sept. climate is very good. End of Nov. we begin to get cold, snow and crabby.

Sly Fox, I may know your Uncle. Give a hint.

Welcome all you Flames. Hope you like us up in God's country. Yes we drink a bit of booze but we drive home quickly after. We like to lower our exposure to other drunks that may be on the road.

Just heard that the official position of the Democratic party is to remove the word "God" from all speeches, text, print, etc. This party is hopelessly lost. This country was founded upon freedom of religion, and these Marxists do not represent any true American any longer.

We're talking about Liberty football. Why are we railing on religion and politics who gives a isht. Guarantee there are Griz fans out there that are way worse than these gosh darn christians and them dirty democrats...come to think, I'm pretty sure we've got a hard core racist on this board spouting his hate speech.

Liberty fans are welcome to come to our tailgate and enjoy adult beverages. We are easy to find, lot "M" where you will all enter the university tailgate area. There will be carved bears of our mascot, Monte and Mo in the back of the truck, loud music and good conversation. All are welcome>

Thanks for the comments. I am impressed by MT fans (mostly lol). You guys seem pretty cool and I can't wait to get up there and meet some of you. Bottom line, we are coming up there to play football and I think our 2 teams can do that just fine beliefs or not. I can't wait. the atmosphere will be amazing and I'm betting on a great game with 2 very talented football teams. I'm thinking we will both be ranked by then. LU 20-25 range and you guys 8-12ish. Should be great.

This weekend will be a great test for Liberty and to see what they have as they go up against Norfolk St who won the MEAC last year.
Next to the Griz/App St game this weekend, the Norfolk St/Liberty game is the game I would pay to see. These two games have huge playoff implications (and yes it is too early to say that, but it was said) for OOC matchups.

Too bad they are at roughly the same time. I'll be at the Liberty game so I'll have to rely on App/Griz highlights.

I'm making the trip to Missoula next weekend for the game. I bought my plane ticket the week that the game was officially announced. I'm looking forward to experiencing the game day atmosphere and hoping for a great game.

You'll enjoy it. September is the best weather month in Montana by far. Bring a sweater for the evenings (mid-to-high 40's). The 10-day forecast looks beautiful.

News Flash from FOX News no doubt? You wouldn't know a Marxist from your ass!
