Liberty Flames

Beautiful stadium complex expandable to 30,000...and unlike Wa-Griz they have D-1 class press facilities

Nice facility and great press box and suites. But am I the only one who thinks it looks more like it belongs on top of a horse racing facility rather than a football stadium?

I had always hoped for a chance at game here in Missoula and now am torn after filming the Griz for 30 years. They have come a long way since the Old Elementary School campuses Ruffner, and Timberake before having the first buildings on Liberty Mtn. I lived on Treasure Island dorms in the middle of the James River which has since washed away. I recently visited Lynchburg in April and took a few pictures. Here are a few pictures of the stadium and 2012 team before I got kicked out. Must have been because I was watching a closed practice in my Montana hoodie! http://mtmediaplus.com/~mtmedi6/montana-grizzly-football-2012?album=5&gallery=30" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for the info, GrizFilmer.

And undoubtedly I'm an idiot, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to register on that site.

Hey guys ... I am one of the guys who runs FlameFans. We do have the first couple of posts moderated for new posters. Any posts not selling Canadian pharmaceuticals or porn generally get pushed through as fast I can check them. Like most sites, we have to battle those insidious spambots and the moderation on the first few posts is part of the process.

Our place has been rather quiet lately because frankly Coach Gill has closed everything down and you guys probably know as much about the Flames as we do at this point. We're all dying to see what kind of alignments and who is starting this Saturday at Wake Forest.

We have a national fanbase due to our unique mission that is similar but smaller than BYU. So we randomly have decent sized pockets of alumni everywhere. I love Missoula and will be flying up from Texas for the game. My uncle owns a ranch in the Bitterroot Valley outside of Corvallis and I head up your way any chance I get.

The return game in Lynchburg is tentatively scheduled for 2015. But with the Griz having a reputation for buying out games and the Flames trying to move up to FBS, there is a good chance that game might not ever happen. I think any of you who make the trip to Virginia would really enjoy the experience. I know we have quite few folks like me who have heard about the WaGriz experience for so long that we had to see it for ourselves.

Uhhhh....we do? Since when?

If you heard that from NDSU fans, they're idiots, because it was MSU that bought out of their return trip. Every year it seems at least one NDSU fan goes nuts about how we backed out of their game, even though it wasn't us, and then fans all of a sudden label us with that.

It's true we bought out of a return trip to Brookings to play SDSU in I think 2007, but that's the only game I can remember.

We bought out Cal Poly a few years ago also, and if I remember right they weren't happy about it.

Little Michelle envy there? You need to watch the movie 2016 - Obama's America. Then tell me why ANY AMERICAN would vote for Dumbo.

As much as I resist the temptation to post about politics....here goes. Mike and Trey from South Park may have said it best.

"Let's get out and vote!
Let's make our voices heard!
We've been given the right to choose
between a douche and a turd.
It’s democracy in action!
Put your freedom to the test.
A big fat turd or a stupid douche,
which do you like best?"

Re: Liberty's fan base...I've met a few Oral Roberts fans (who get a similar rep) over the years and got along fine with them. Remember, college football is on Saturday. Church is on Sunday. Their fanbase may not be tearing up downtown Missoula on Friday night but they won't be in Misssoula to proselytise either.

Ahh, it must have been Cal Poly then in 2007.

Hypocrites? Regarding what? Do you know the meaning of the word?...Please elucidate.

We had bought out a few games during the period when the athletic department needed to cover their asses. So we bought out low-paying return trips in order to go play money games to make up the disparity. Yes, the other fan bases weren't happy. They did what they had to do. BUT, now teams usually make UM travel first now and THEN return the favor to us, a la App St.

I get so tired of posts like these on this board. Ya that religion is such a terrible thing.

Yes, THAT religion is a terrible thing.

That's why I'm looking so forward to kicking their asses.

Still like Sly Fox, though. Just wouldn't trust him to run the country.

Hold a Bible in one hand and put a snake in your mouth, that will work..it's in the Book.

Suffice it to say that I feel there are some very strong misconceptions about Liberty's religion. I spent months going around in circles on Idaho's board when it looked like the WAC-East concept might have gotten off the ground. I'd rather not endure that back-and-forth once again. But if someone wants to start a thread I'll engage.

And Tod, I can assure you I have zero interest in running the country. And while most Liberty folks lean strongly toward the conservative side, a large portion consider themselves Libertarian. A position that my Montanan experience has shown me would fit right into Glacier Country.

I've found Liberty's online fan base to be the most respectful and polite I've ever come across.

Judging or making fun of them for their beliefs is retarded. People like that are as bad as the religious people that are in your face with it.

I figure since humans have no definitive answer to the universe let people belief what ever the hell they want without judging them on it. Also, believe what ever you want without rubbing it in others faces.
