Liberty Flames Scouting Report

Excellent breakdown, great job. I will share with the LU folks. Can't wait. Will be the first top 15 matchup in Williams Stadium.

You guys weren't ranked for the Coastal game last year?

if we limit turnovers we win. Simple as that. Our defense is superior, and Henderson and Jones are so good that Growler could even get the ball in their hands.

Growler seems to living rent-free in your head.

He should just kick it 70 yards all the time, no matter the distance, like he does in practice, all the time.

That might work.
Yet when the ball is on the 20 yard line I think that is putting an awful lot of pressure on the long snapper.

Three possible playoff teams played in non conference, then EWU, MSU and ISU. Pretty solid schedule.

At 2-0 with wins over Wazzu and ISU I'd add PSU to the mix as a playoff contender as well
You guys seem unconcerned about #24 NAU, which has beaten us bad in recent years, including a double digit win in Missoula. We haven't beaten them convincingly since 2008. Unless they get banged up by Arizona this weekend, it could be a tough homecoming.

Some guys might not worry about NAU but I am damned concerned about them.

First we must beat Liberty. If we get that done we must come in to Wa Griz and play lights out to beat NAU! I look at the schedule during the pre-season then simply look at each week's opponent and go from that point forward. But you are right on Kemjack...

This is why I think liberty is a must win. The conference will be wide open and we need 7 division wins to qualify. I would think 5-8 is doable but 6-8 gets sketchy. nau will be a barn burner.

Terrific summary and analysis as usual Brint! Clean up the mistakes and play DOLA and we have a great chance to win. :thumb:

Yes, but he's apparently living rent-free in your house.

Should be a great game. Hopefully we can play well this game and come out with the win. 2-1 would be awesome...if you had told me before the season we'd be 2-1 with a 1 point loss I would have been happier than hell. We'll see where we end up I suppose. It's better to lose close early in the year and come together than start losing close at the end. I have a feeling we'll get a crack at Cal Poly again this year and it ends much differently.

Ben Roberts as the best receiver for the Griz vs NDSU but was off the radar in the Cal Poly game. Talking about WRs but the only talented and reliable receiver is Roberts...it is weird Roberts was not thrown to repeatedly against Cal Poly where they have small d-backs...especially when Gustafson couldn't hit a brick wall with his passes....with Roberts all he needs to do is throw the ball up for grabs and Roberts will make the play. Look for Stitt to wake up, rub his eyes and go back to Roberts next game.

An article on gogriz.com from the Billings Gazette.....this "delta" character sounds an AWFUL lot like Growler...

I don't think even Growlie is dumb enough to say that Roberts is the only talented and reliable WR we have... is he? :?

From what I've read and seen Liberty's offensive line is no NDSU or Cal Poly and no way have they encountered linebackers like Montana's. Nope, no way! Hopefully Kidder is ready to go. If so that offensive line will be more than challenged. This game will come down to whether or not Stitt's offense can get ANYTHING going because against Cal poly they looked like "$$$$". I have no worries the defense will hold up tho.
Side note........leave Sanders in the game.
Go Griz!!

I would venture a guess that WVU's linebackers are probably better than Montana's by simple virtue of the different levels of football the two teams play in.

But I do agree - it's going to come down to the offense. They'll need to score more than 17 points if they want to win.

No offense, but you are making a pretty naïve assumption there......
