Liberty dumps spread offense for the Pro-Set

Gee, they must be stupid idiots! Everyone knows that the spread offense is the answer to all offensive woes! Just because USC, LSU, Georgia, et. al use the multiple-pro-set offense, does not mean that nobodies like Liberty should use it. So, what if it capitalizes on the running game when a team has so-so passing QB, but good runners! All offenses have to be balanced between runs and passes, everyone knows that! If the QB is not very accurate, he will just have to work on getting better, because we should never question the unique scoring power of the spread.

And yet they just lost at home to a MEAC team after their offense put up 0 points in the second half. If you were a Liberty fan I'm sure you be a beacon of positivity right now!

Guess it couldn't be that Liberty switched because that is what their new coach is comfortable with!

Also, the Griz have not exactly struggled on offense.

Growler, what is the point of your post other than you like to practice your one-handed typing skills?
:coffee:

Growler missed that we had over 500 yards of Spread Option "O" last week.

If (BIG IF) we don't turn it over we hang 45+ on the Flames.

None of those teams run a "pro-set" offense. They may run a "pro-style" offense and have multiple backs, but that does not mean it is a "pro-set". Again, here you are showing your complete and utter lack of football knowledge.
In our 2 games this season the Griz 560 yds passing and 504 yards rushing. I'd say they are doing pretty good balancing things out.

Poor G1 must be lonely and starved for attention. Here some attention, little guy. Hope you feel better.

A quick scan also shows that the last 5 years featured the most prolific-scoring teams in Liberty's history too :coffee:
hmmm...how many playoff appearances have they had in that 5 years...or ever for that matter?

So, what you're saying is I should of re-quoted Growler. I thought it was obvious I was tearing apart his "observation" that switching offenses was proving to be a boon for them :|

Or you thought I'm a Liberty fan or something...

Liberty doesn't appear to run a pro-set offense. Looking at the offensive plays in this linked video from last week, I didn't notice any pro-set. I also asked someone from the Liberty athletic department if they ran a pro-set, and they said no--more of a hybrid. I saw the reference in the paper to moving from a 4 or 5-receiver set to more of a pro style look, based on a discussion with a receiver. I guess we can decide on Saturday whether they run a pro set.

Wasn't arguing with you sorry if it looked like that. Just trying to point out that even with the switch they haven't accomplished a lot with it. I'd bet they'd rather be running the spread option and making the playoffs. But I am sure growler will find something wrong with that idea too.

Does it matter? The real debate is.....

Will the 25k+ at Wa-Griz this week be louder than the 27k+ the flames played in front of at Wake Forest??

So let me get this correct...you called the Liberty athletic department to ask that question?

Wow Liberty does it. We better do it then. Jeez you never stop impressing me with your lack of football knowledge. You do realize that you are "that guy". You are the guy that sits and at a baseball game and yells "HEY REF THEY SCORED THAT POINT" oh boy.

Can you imagine having that job and getting that call from someone. I bet that guy had some things to laugh about with his buddies that night at the bar.
