Not a good show on the road at all, Waddington, TMC, Dani scoreless..15 TO. Why a team with some much talent, at this point in the season is beyond me. Some would say better coaching, that may be some of it, but the player makes the shot, not the coach. Not making clear open shots is??? We beat them by 20 pts last time, Dani scored 8pts.
AP, Ziggy, and Lincoln helps loosen up Dani's game. But they need to score. Ziggy getting in there certainly helps to fill the gap, and Lincoln and AP seem to be contributing more, but need to do so more consistently.

A players presence isn't just felt in points scored.
Untrue... Only Points count. Her 8 Rebounds (Most by a UM player) and 4 Assists (tied for most by a UM Player) in the 1st game mean nothing... Other than that she contributed at least 8 points for other players.
GCU, Grand Canyon University is a program on the rise. It’s a Christian school located in metro Phoenix area. Not sure on number of students but I think a lot more than Montana. Beautiful facilities, fairly new and working towards moving up toFBS. They’ve been mentioned as candidates for MWC.
Metro Phoenix area has 5M plus, that’s million with an M. You will hear a lot about them in the coming years.
Back to your statement about the GCU women’s coach being considered for the head job at UM. That would be a step down, not just salary but prestige as well.
I love the lady Griz and disappointed in what has happened with our program. I fear it’s going to be tough to find a coach that can turn the program around. I also think we need to find a coach that has Montana connections.Thrre are a lot of Montana players that we need to rebuild with that have committed to MSU.
Harris is a Ronan Boy. And then there is Wooley.

trouble with our coaches, it doesn't appear they pay enough attention to who is hot and who is not hot. Lady Griz shot terrible. But, most of that is due to two players, McCliment-Call and Waddington. 0 - 11.
Remove those shots and Lady Griz have at least a respectable percentage, not great, but not terrible. Both Avery and Tyler were also unproductive outside of shooting with only 3 rebounds between the two and 7 fouls. Now, on the bench for most of the game was Pirog who scored a point a minute which was better than any other player on the team. Seems to me the coach is keeping some players that aren't producing on the floor to long.

There is no way GCU coach leaves an on the rise program and university and comes to Missoula. Coach Miller is most likely on the short list for a number of P4 programs.
What UM does with this vacancy will be interesting. Who will be running the charge for the hire? Will it be current AD? Will others have a say in who is hired?
Harris and Wooley are MT guys, but so are Jordan MacIntyre and Jos Tinkle. Katie Faulkner has ties to LG, but most likely would not leave Pepperdine after 1 year to come to Missoula. Petrino is a MT guy, but after this last hiring process it would be hard to see him applying. Sayers at Carroll is an interesting candidate. Seton at ISU also, but have heard during the last process he wasn't interested in the interview process. Can't see Payne being interested either.
Potentially an assistant from a MWC or former Pac12 school would emerge. Maybe a D2 coach from the GNAC, RMAC or Lonestar Conferences. Will be interesting to follow this process and to see who wants to get into the mix.
You bring up some great points about the state of the Lady Griz program. Since Robin Selvig retired, it's been a tough road for the team—both in terms of on-court success and fan engagement. Montana has such a rich basketball tradition, and when a program like the Lady Griz isn’t competing at the top, it’s bound to impact attendance and overall excitement.
The hiring decision will be critical. If they go with another "hopeful" rather than a coach with a proven track record of winning, it could be a sign that leadership isn’t fully committed to bringing the program back to prominence. a program can fade quickly if the right person isn’t leading it. Fans will always support a winner, but continued mediocrity can lead to dwindling interest.
So, the big question: Will the university will step up and invest in a top-tier coach, or will they take a gamble on another unproven hire?

It's been a long time since Selvig was coaching. Almost 10 yrs if our math is correct.
While the legacy is great and the tradition super, what does the this new hire do to tap into that rich LG tradition and alumni base. Because without them supporting the new hire that tradition will continue to dwindle.
Like we mentioned.....this hiring process will be interesting and there should be a lot of pressure on AD and athletic dept to make a solid hire.
Does anyone know if Woolley's teams at Western were known for a specific identity,,,ie great defense, creative offense, rebounding, etc.... I have no idea if he has much influence over how Nate leads the program. It didn't take him that long at Western to lead them to a national NAIA title. Did he apply the last time the position came open?
They have 101,000 Students...
I’d be willing to bet that a large, and by that I’d say in excess of 70,000 are on-line students and not on campus. They’d be right up there with the University of Phoenix, which I hear is going FBS in 2027.
