LG Recruit?

I wasn't able to find any info on it here so I will just ask. I was talking to an admin from Fairfield who had said that their star player had committed to the Griz recently. She's a junior this year. I recall watching her last year in the state championship game and she was the best player on the court in a losing effort. Anyone have any info on that, specifically what her name was? I can't even recall that much. I believe she is a 6'1" PG. Not sure if that will be what she plays in college, I kinda doubt that with the size she has.

All I've heard so far is of a Haley Vining from CMR < http://mslacat.wordpress.com/2010/09/08/the-top-2011-montana-girls-basketball-prospects-part-1

They've reported on the 10 @ 10 sports amd weather a few times that some girl with the last name of Klinker has committed to the LG. I believe she is a JR in HS.

Here is a link to the local sports report that gives some info. Check the video. She is a Jr. at Fairfield.

And some more info from a G F Tribune article when she was named athlete of the week:

Molly Klinker, Fairfield

Junior post Molly Klinker appears to be in top form, a littler bigger and stronger than last season when she earned Tribune Super-State honors after helping Fairfield High earn runner-up honors at the state Class B girls' basketball tournament.

Klinker scored 20 points in a 78-56 rout of Lewistown on Dec. 18, and had 15 as Fairfield posted a 54-50 victory over another Class A school, Browning, on Dec. 21.

She's averaging 15 points a game for the Eagles (2-0 in District 1B, 6-0 overall).

Klinker averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds a game en route to all-league honors as a sophomore. Her 19.7 average led all scorers in the state tournament.

Klinker starred on the Montana Hoops Girls 16U team that won the Inland Empire AAU District title last April in Spokane and placed second at the Denver Super Regional tournament in June.

Also a fine volleyball player, Klinker was a force at the net on the 2010 Fairfield team that earned runner-up honors in the District 1B tournament and went on to place fourth in the Northern divisional tournament. She had nine kills in the title match of the district tournament and 12 in a 3-2 loss to Glasgow in the third-place match at the divisional tournament.

Thanks Gallatin! :thumb:

You are welcome. Miss Molly looks like a great recruit. Too bad we won't see her in maroon and silver until Fall of 2012. Welcome Molly to Griz Nation!

Yep, that would be the one. I thought it was odd and must not have heard right that they had her at PG. Knew I had seen her play post. She was a truck coming down the lane.

Good kid from a good family (although Mom & Dad were both Bobcats  ). She will be a great addition to the Griz family.

Sounds like a good hire. Should fit into the '4' or '5' position. Still hoping that the LG go out and get a player like in the Hollie Tyler mode. I think we still have two more places on the roster to fill by April signing; if not too mistaken. I would assume that would help on getting back on a national recognition level again.

Misty Atkinson is not returning to the Lady Griz next year due to graduation. thus, with Ena, Stender, Linford, and Atkinson leaving, that is a total of 4 scholarships available of which one is taken already by former Lady Griz player Marty Kinsler's daughter, Haley Vining, who signed last november. thus, three are still available for this spring or can be saved until next fall when there will be a deeper class.

Now that Klinker verbally committed to the Lady Griz and will likely sign her letter of intent next november, Lady Griz will likely try to get Elle Tinkle to sign next november also.
but I do agree, it has been awhile since the Lady Griz had a center like Holly Tyler.

O.K. I got kind of confused there with the kfbb.com link saying..."Fairfield junior MK gave her verbal commitment to play for the LG in December, to start her junior year." But according to http://mslacat.wordpress.com/2010/03/31/great-falls-trib-girls-super-state-team dated 31 March 2010 MK was a sophomore last year listed on the GF Tribune Super State Team. A junoir this year (2010-11) and a senior next year (2011-12); subsequently joining the LG the season of 2012-13, if I understand correctly. That makes seven out of ten of last years Montana top players committed to the LG sometime or another.
I guess I should have read that as MK giving her verbal in December, starting her junior year, to play for the LG. Which means, over the past thirty or so years at least, the very first player to have given a verbal commitment before her junior year, at least as far as I can remember.
