And Hilliard qualifies for retirement? Any guesses to what he'll get? Hopefully enough to take it easy and enjoy some family time.

I have a feeling that is the last thought on his mind.

That's why I'm not gonna ask. Anyone know how it works?

True. I was harsh. I am as big a Griz fan as anyone, but I am a realist. He asked for why, and I told him why. I looked it up since and Lex only scored 2 NFL TDs ever. I personally saw him get stuffed about 5 times from the 1. THAT is why nobody wants him. Nobody on this board wants to hear it or admit it, but it's just the honest truth. Chase Reynolds has still never (and most-likely never will) played in an NFL game and I would take him over Lex right now. Lex MADE it, and that was a great accomplishment. Many talented players never even get a chance.

EDIT:Lex had only 2 rushing TDs. He also had 2 receiving TDS. I think he could have had more success as a 3rd-down back utilizing his receiving and open-field abilities, but Miami thought he was a goal-line guy for some reason. Goal-line-only guys are usually bigger bruising slow-footed guys. I never understood why Miami played him in that roll, and Lex just wasn't up for that.

Don't get yer knickers all in a twist. I didn't say a word about what I did or did not want to hear, and I actually appreciate your knowledgeable analysis. What seemed unnecessarily harsh were words like "useless" - which seemed a bit over the top.

From what I've heard, a player is "tendered" and qualifies for their pension after playing in 3 seasons and 3 games (in the 4th season). However, they aren't able to pull out their retirement until sometime in their 40's (don't know specifically) with a certain % fee. I believe they are able to get it without a fee in their 50's.

I've always enjoyed the moments when ex-Griz get exposure in NFL games. This has not been a great year for the Griz, what with waivers and injuries, fewer and fewer NFL Griz. W.C.Fields, at the funeral for a friend, leaned over to another friend and quipped, "The ranks are thinning." How true.

If you follow him on Twitter, he previously has stated that, "i gotta get better at catchin passes yall. thats the way t(sic) NFL is goin" His own self-assessment is probably the most accurate reason as to why he got let go.

He got let go because NE lost a tight end, and NE wanted more depth at tight end (and I assume Lex was low man on the totem poll or not essential).
