letter to seagrizluvr

Like I said Bdizzle, your right. I guess thats why you picked the lady griz to be a nine seed in one of your posts and based that great logic on because we had only four losses. And you accuse me of not knowing anything about basketball. LOL

I was wrong on my seeding. Wow so was almost every paid basketball expert. I also said the only way they would keep it close was to not turn the ball over and Sonya had to make shots. She went 0 for 8 in the 2nd half. You on the other hand with your amazing knowledge of the game don't take into consideration that Pittsburgh was just a much better team. Preparation really had nothing to do with it.

If what I witnessed yesterday was the strategy they came up with, then Selvig is a worse coach then I thought. Did that look to you like they had come up with plays to get by it because all I saw was one(maybe two) dribbles, stop, look frantically for someone to pass to, get trapped. Those are not plays that anyone would have come up with if they were trying to compete with a team the caliber of Pitt. I would feel better knowing that he just screwed up by not preparing them, cuz that's what it looked like.

You are a moron, plain and simple. YOu are not prepared, plain and simple. I would ask you to shoot yourself in the head, but you would miss point blank. So, just go [*]f**k yourself. :loser:

[MODERATOR NOTE: user warned for this post]

What better post than this one to make my last one. Thanks to Chris for founding Egriz, but the time has come to say aloha. There was a time when posters with multiple user names were banned, but that has been pushed aside to increase numbers of posts/hits, thereby increasing revenue for Chris. I don't blame him, after all this is his livlihood, so it's just business.

I have enjoyed the time here for the most part, but am sick and tired of the "newbies" (we all know they aren't new at all) ripping on the coaches, from Hauck and now Selvig, because of their personal agendas. Criticism is one thing, stupidity is another. 99% of the attacks on coaches fit the latter of the two.

Thanks to the good guys like Alpha, Re/Max. Hammer, Spanky, Grizo, DWTF, and yes guys like kalm and bac, despite their lack of political understanding (see sarcasm). I know I left some people out, but you know who you are. As for the jackasses, they don't deserve a mention by name, they know who they are.

No hard feelings Chris, have a great time. :thumb:

SeaGriz, we all get that you had an emotional meltdown as a result of the LG loss, and you are still in the process of recovering, and although it "is the coach's job" (as you put it) to figure these things out, since you identify yourself as "a fan of Montana," I am hoping that you will contact the coaches to properly instruct them on how they messed up this game. While we all understand that it is the coaches who are getting paid for this, your wisdom - provided gratis - would serve to benefit the entire institution. And while you are at it, go ahead and get ahold of Geno Auriemma's opponents and give them proper instruction on how to beat U Conn. After all, basketball is as simple as "proper preparation." Nobody should be losing to U Conn be 30 points!

In my opinion, I was a little disappointed in our halftime adjustments. Not to take anything away from the Pitt players or coaching staff, but I thought Rob would have some answers for that press in the 2nd half. I think all the posts prior to mine have good points. Rob is a terrific coach that does more with his talent level than perhaps anyone in the country. Is he second guessing his press breaker and offense in the 2nd half? Of course he is, just like any other coach would. Could he have made some changes that would have effected the outcome? No, the better team won...just by more than the Montana faithful wanted. I have so much respect for Rob and his staff, I was just hoping for a quicker time-out early in the 2nd half, better ball movement, pass fakes and more attack mode vs. the press. Just 1 opinion.

LOL! Emotional meltdown? NO, just a normal fan having a normal reaction. And trust me I am not the only one going by the reactions by those around me and talking to my friends and family after the game. You must have been one of the people sitting to my right who never stood and cheered once during the first half(let alone they never stood and clapped during the school song). Listen, Selvig is a great coach, but he is not God. He clearly made mistakes yesterday. We can argue forever as to whether he prepared the team enough and get nowhere. But besides that his biggest mistake was his lack of calling timeout precisely at the beginning of the meltdown. There was a clear moment when we got down 6 that he should have called timeout. He didn't. Pitt scored 6 more quick points. If you guys want to wear blinders and not have discussions fine. I am not calling for his head, I am calling for him to learn from his mistakes so we don't continually just come home with a "I competed in the NCAA Tournament" ribbon.

Get over it Seagriz.....we got beat by a superior team..it happens. Please don't blame our coach for the loss. Give him credit for his continued record of excellence over many years.

I didn't watch the game so I'm not going to get involved in the heated criticism, but someone brought up a good point that there's a difference between a lack of preparation and the inability to execute.

When you draw up a football play, every defensive player is accounted for by a blocker, and if the defense switches formation, the offense still knows who to block. A well prepared offense will know their job no matter what formations or stunts the defense shows. Still, that doesn't mean they are going to take it yard every time they touch the ball, especially if they are facing a bigger, faster, and stronger defense.

Knowing what to do, and then physically executing it are two different things.

Valid criticism requires the presentation of an alternative. I'm not sure I've seen that here.

The purpose of the trap is to get a double-team on the ball. When you are trapped near the sideline and the half-court line, you only have two directions to move the ball -- and Pitt's taller players with longer arms did a great job of putting up the fence. (Although a Missoulian photo did show Pitt's star grabbing Sonja Rogers' arm while she was trying to find a place to pass). So you try to get the ball in the middle of the floor to have options toward both sidelines as well as ahead.

If Robin could have made some worthwhile halftime adjustments, his players would have come out taller and with longer arms. They didn't. Bad job, Robin.
