Letter from Jean Gee re: tailgate parties

I told Wahlberg this the other day when we were talking about this subject.. but the NCAA is cool with Cam Newton cashing large booster checks and Miami boosters buying strippers, parties, and yacht parties (not like a GB1 yacht party) but they're not cool with student athletes, parents, and potential recruits swinging by a tailgate after a game to get some 6 hour old food. Way to pick your battles, NCAA. Well done.

For the record, none of the babes on on my yacht are being recruited for theit athletic prowess. They are multi talented in many ways I must say. They just enjoy the comforts of being able to sunbathe nude and experience the motion of the ocean. :thumb:

I agree..............hopefully the silver lining in all this is the Athletic Dept. really isn't this body which breaks rule after rule and we come out the better for it(in the long run). IMO most of us know that the people running the show are good at what they do. I really hope the NCAA is about finished and will issue a report showing a few minor violations, we take the medicine, and move on to what we do best. Win football games. In the end people like Gwen Florio gets the negative recognition she deserves and loses her credibilty as a reporter. I think the storm is ending and when the dust settles Griz Nation will be stronger than before.

Somebody should ask Ms. Gee how she is doing with Kemp's eligibility. When she's got that taken care of she can return to the tailgate issue.

I wouldnt worry too much about it. I think if you use common sense, you arent in any danger.

What is this "common sense" thingy you speak of??? This is a football message board!!!

Normally, I'd agree with you. However, "common sense" is not generally a term associated with the NCAA. If they want to get you (i.e., the team you root for) they will hang you up by the balls for just this sort of crap.

Edit: Boy, you gotta type fast around here.

Can we just exercise our right to bare arms, and blow up the NCAA? Their rule book is more stupid than
More Stupid University in Boozeman. :)

Those are some serious guns dude...if you can blow up the NCAA just by wearing a sleeveless shirt. ;)

Does this include giving to the visiting people as well? We entertain a lot of folks from out of town.
I don't care who the person is and it is no one's business who I give cold frosty beverages too. The only stipulation I have is you have to be over 21 YOA. If you are not suppose to except free gifts because you are a special student, than I suggest you don't! You know the rules, it is not my responsibility to figure this out.
I think you just found the solution to our current problems!! We all need to make sure we provide food and drinks for parents of visiting players, then we can turn our opponents in for their players parents receiving improper benefits.... Griz losses would be overturned and we would be back in the playoff hunt.

Rape and free hot dogs all being considered by the NCAA in the same breath. Suspects the U of gifting hot dogs (infraction) and permissive rape.

I always thought Missoula and the U of M were a bit liberal but this seems way over the top. Makes me want to begin stealing from little old ladies. When caught I can explain "it's better than rape and dog gifting."

The good news might be the NCAA needs to hire more nuts to police the above mentioned. More jobs?
