"4. I want to see more consistency from Sneed. We've beat this dead horse about good Sneed vs bad Sneed from last year, if we can see far more "good Sneed" we'll see a far more efficient offense."
He was really good last year the majority of the time. It is hard to play QB position when you are on your back or under so much pressure. He bailed the Griz offense out with his legs every week. The teams leading rusher not necessarily by design but out of necessity. Besides that he throws a great ball and is tough as nails. Did you see the shots he took last year? He is as good a QB as the Griz have had in quite awhile. The offensive line will be better this year and with that he is going to be a stud this year.
Sneed was inconsistent BECAUSE the OL was inconsistent. I agree with your analysis and conclusions. :thumb: I have high expectations for this team.
Yay, a football conversation, finally!!!!
Offensively, I really am not worried at all. The offensive line can only improve from last season. That unit is a lot deeper this season as well. Their performance is the biggest key between the GRIZ having a great offense or elite offense. Even a little improvement, will mean a few more W's.
The WR's are the team's best strength, in terms of talent and depth. They and Sneed help one another. Akem is one of the top WR's in the nation. I feel he is a legitimate FCS All American, with NFL upside. JLM, Sulser, and Flowers are open field playmakers. Toure has been inconsistent. IF he finds consistency in his game, this offense will be even better. TE's are deep and talented. I love the upside of Bingham for his SR season. I hope he can have a healthy SR season.
I too am not really sure what to think of our RB's. I believe their struggles were more on the OL than the RB talent. Also, Eastwood was playing hurt the majority of last season. I really am hoping, Turner will be given an opportunity. I really love what he can bring to the team, if fully recovered from injury. Janacaro is tough as nails, and likely the best blocker of this group. Marcus Knight showed some great signs this spring. When the OL did its job, Knight looked the part of a lead back. He also looks to be the most versatile. I really am not sure of his blocking ability though. Also, I expect the likes of Sulser, JLM, and Flowers to be running the ball on fly sweeps and reverses more often. If it were me, I'd be playing Flowers everywhere on the field.
I saved the best for last. QB, Dalton Sneed. I love everything he brings to this team. He throws a nice ball, he runs well, he is smart, he is tough, and he possess championship caliber leadership. I would go to war with him anytime. I would run through brick wall after brick wall for him, as a teammate. Yes, the 1st half of last season, I got upset with him a few times. However, the 2nd half of last season, I honestly felt he had more confidence in his teammates, and he was just letting the game come to him. He cut down on his mistakes, and emerged as a true QB and leader. I wanted last season to continue, just to see Sneed to continue to grow as a QB and leader. With an improved OL and more time to gel with his WR's, he too can be a legitimate All American candidate.
Overall, I feel it is very realistic to have very high expectations of this offense this season. Will the OL be average to good, or will they be great or better? If it is the latter, GRIZ NATION will be very happy with this offense. #playoffrun
